speaking of bikes :

i have an old amazon biker babe, and will see if the triumph is in scale with this small 25mm model .

in 28mm this one is perfect , IMO :

Here's a quick and poorly lit snap of the Tamiya 1/48 BMW R-75, doing service as a Soviet Ural. It's a little bit big, being 1/48 but it has better proportions than those horrors.

I think you will find that the bodies of the bikes are probably spot on, it's the wheels that are the problem; they are way too small. Where they the right size it would change the whole aspect. As a rule of thumb the top of a motorcycle wheel is the same height as the rider's knee.

I've tried to get as close a match here between subjects and figures, it's not spot on but near enough.

As you can see the forks are about right but the wheel is too small...

I reckon an experienced scale modeller made the bike masters...

I would have thought an experienced scale modeller would have worked with drawings, plans and photos... judging by the R75 and its made-up side-car mudguard and of course the size of the wheels on all of the bikes, that's difficult to believe.

Agree with Arlequin, the wheels are the issue on both the dispatch riders and the DAK but the DAK ones look like Wellbike wheels rather than real motorcycle ones. The Trumpies are a tad small.

The wheels are the worst issue on both the German and British bikes, the wheel centres are too small, the tyres too big, the wheels look too wide as well, and the wheels are all too small scale wise.
Overall, there are many issues, they just don't like right.
I hate to be picky with other people's models, as I dislike it when stuff I make gets pulled apart.
its not easy making model masters, you have to take into consideration whether or not the models will be robust enough for gamers, that they are in as few bits as possible, because gamers don't like making things, that they look right with the figures they support, and they actually look like the vehicle they are meant to represent.
Bits of these models are good, other bits are bad, and overall, well sadly, they are not great.

They might be on safer ground there, the sculptor of their vehicles is less likely to draw inspiration from watching Quadrophenia or Roman Holiday. ;)

Wow! What the heck happened?

I must say that I am surprised that this model had made it to production.  :?

I was rather looking forward to it.

BMW recall
We have noticed a few 'discussions' on the wheel size of the recent BMW and sidecar and we have to agree they look too small even though they are probably not far out. It seems impossible to find a picture of the BMW R75 next to someone standing next to it so this Zundap will have to do. Although that bike is fractionally lower, the wheel size seems to be the same as the BMW and comes up to just above the knee. The sidecar wheel is the same height but on the model does look odd, so we are having all three wheels (and the spare) remade a little bigger. These two codes have therefore been removed and will be replaced, hopefully, in 4-6 weeks. Any customer who has already bought one and is not happy can send them back and have them replaced once the new ones are in stock.

That is simply excellent service. Very typical of the Perry co. Well done.

Wheels aside, the actual castings might bear a look at, anyone else notice how rough the BMW is?

It's commendable that they are recalling this. I hope they fix the Triumphs as well.
