Old Crow force WIP thread. New pics 28/04/16
« on: April 02, 2016, 11:46:41 PM »
Help me Obi-Wan LAF, you're my only hope.

I'm looking for a 28mm scaled sci-fi flier. A single man, recon vehicle, very lightly armed. The kind with a cockpit suspended under a pair of lift fans and small stub wings. At a push, it could be a drone.

Ideally I want a tiny tail or none at all, and overall in the 75-90mm (3 -  3 1/2" roughly) maximum size.

These are to work in a force with 25 mm old crow vehicles, so the simple, functional, industrial look would be great. I'm really NOT interested in anything with 40k styling.

If I can't find existing models then I may scratch build (I need 3) so recommendations for models but also inspiring images greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance...

**** EDIT ****

Since starting this thread and getting so much helpful feedback I have started to pot updates for the whole Grymn/ Old Crow force.

Someone posted a Japanese kit of a small single person submersible style vehicle which I thought would make a great little space runabout.

Could be a fun kit to bash up into what you want.

This is a more expensive kit, but again has bashing potential:

If you're ok with a paper model kit, Mel Ebbles' Hummingbird may be just the thing. http://www.genetmodels.com/ebbles-miniatures-2007-2008-models/

How about the old Future Warriors Starfish? Not *quite* the look you're going for, but the size should be perfect.

What about a GZG 15mm gunship?

It could function as a 25mm drone. Dwartist did this one for me, long time ago (Pig Iron minis, 28mm):

DaemonScape?

Probably more guns than you want but the are separate so you don't have to add them.

Thank you for all the input!

Many of these I know about, I have the pardulon one too, nice but too long for my current need.

Zenterrain?

Oddly, I like the feel of that one. But not in MDF. It reminds me of this http://miniaturescenery.com/ProductPage.asp?CODE=VH1ZEPENG
Which Inso pointed out to me on another forum.

They both have that dumpy, practical simple look. I may have to make something similar.

Further suggestions still welcome!

Maybe the Puppetswar 'Hornet':

I believe it fits in the concept you are looking for.

I would suggest the Nexus Miniatures Cobra, but it is a little larger than you have indicated at 108mm by 96mm. Nice 80's retro feel though!
