Brummies 15mm Sci Fi - Old crow -Xi'An Force
« on: September 27, 2018, 10:56:24 PM »
Hey all

A bit of a test to see how attaching pictures work on this forum.

Thought I'd start with some good old... 30k? I wouldn't say I'm a brilliant painter, but I do try and get my figures to a respectable gaming standard. I tend to just put all the block colours on, ink, highlight (in most cases) and then base.

In the past I mostly concentrated on 15mm Sci Fi, but have slowly been returning to the Dark Side with my 15mm Sci Fi as predominantly a secondary project. After getting more into 40k literature I find the setting far more appealling and not quite so depressingly grim as the routine White Dwarf publications and Codex's make out.

Anyway here are my Thousand Sons, quite possibly my favourite Legion, and some Silent Sisters!

Nice traitor marines. Like the silent sisters, too.

Got a few MkIII and MkIV marines, too. My plan is to have Raven Guard and World Eaters squads for the horus heresy.

I do like the World Eaters colour scheme, it looks even crisper on vehicles. Raven Guard I like background wise and would like to do a small 40k army kitted out with scout snipers, drop pods etc and try and emulate their tendency for hit and run tactics.  :)

A friend and me wanna use them for skirmish fights. No armys planned.
I like the White colour of the World eaters, too. And the Raven Guard i like because of reading novels like Deliverance Lost. Corax is an interesting Primarch and cool, i think.

The royal Dynasty of New Xia is a relatively new player in the Inter-planetary political spectrum. The family which founded Far Guangzhou during the third migration were relatively isolated and generally overlooked by inter-system powers and Corporate juggernauts until just before the Corporate Wars. It was at this time that the planet of Far Guangzhou saw a boom in productivity: as contemporary super powers and powerful movements began to militarise in preparation for the conflict that would determine whether state or corporate powers would define humanities future, others sought a means of escaping the oncoming cataclysm. By chance the Xia Dynasty had heavily invested in industries concentrating on planetary colonisation and terraforming, a solid indication as to their own ambitions. This foreign demand soon saw Far Guangzhous become one of the wealthiest neutral states and it would be this wealth that would be used to great affect to expand New Xias influence and her borders at war's end.

Fast forward a two centuries and New Xia is considered one of the largest Human Empires in the Human Sphere. Spanning nearly 400 systems and counting. This impressive size has attracted numerous enemies and as such New Xia has one of the largest militaries with only the UCRS and Commonwealth close to matching it in terms of man power and material. These forces are rigid adherents of traditional combined arms warfare and often, though not always, deploy forces that in purpose and design could easily be identifiable from the last millennia of warfare.

New Xia relies almost solely on manned armies; human soldiers are at the heart of everything, but Vehicle Assisted A.I, Drones, Recovery droids and Hazardous Environment Bots feature heavily in operations, but rarely do machines operate independently of human forces.

Some more photos (had to edit the sizes of these down as the pictures come out HUGE).

It's great to see nicely painted and thought out 15mm armies like this :) .

It also makes me a little sad because I love the scale and size of the armies... but have eyesight that prohibits me getting the detail I would like in 15mm painting...

Those Old Crow vehicles work very well for the red guard :) ... I have always loved Old Crow stuff :) .

Are those marines 15mm!? They're awesome. Where did you get them?
