My 10mm Sci Fi Project
« on: April 08, 2016, 11:13:55 AM »
As a young lad I grew up watching all of the sci-fi Programs of the late 70s and 80s, There are a few which particularly stuck in my mind Aliens,  Starship Troopers  and of course War of the Worlds.

So I thought I would combine all of these interest into one sci-fi Project to simplify matters.

I have been asking for help from the pendraken forum for names for my warring factions, also some transport options for Pendragon SF15x Colonist in space suit and SF16x Colonist in space suits with heavy weapons. For aerial support I've decided to use Eagle from space 1999.

So any suggestions would be more than welcome.

for anyone wishing to see more detail 10mm Sci-Fi Projects.

Take care

Andy

If you're looking for suggestions on other manufacturers you should check out Hawk War-games.  Their Dropzone Commander game has some great looking 10mm stuff.

The Infernal Machine Tanks

Art- Buildings and Vehicles

who does 10mm chieftain tanks ??

secondly I have also found a couple of people who produce a 10mm buggy

The type you have pictured is similar to the current BUK missile launcher vehicle used by Russia and its allies.  A similar vehicle was used to down the Malaysian Airlines flight over Ukraine.

who does 10mm chieftain tanks ??

There's a bloke selling some on ebay at the moment - link

There are plenty 6mm (GHQ) or 15mm (QRF), but 10mm modern seems a bit sparse  :(

Ok I think the Russian vehicles have been identified by a forum member over at militaryhistoryonline.com

2K12 "Kub" missile launcher (NATO codename "SA-6 Gainful")

1S91 (NATO codename "Straight Flush") radar system that supported 2K12 batteries

Search continues to find the 10mm equivalent

A 10mm chieftain tank has been found  by a forum member over at leagueofaugsburg.com

Miniature Figurines 10mm Catalogue - Modern - British

I also like a few other bits over there  that I feel would fit in with the Earth Alliance feel

MBV102   FV432

MBV106   FV432 (Closed)

MBV108   FV434 REME

MBV110   FV438 Swingfire

Be careful when going to the minifigs website at the moment.

I was following a link to it this morning and it popped up a "you've won an iphone" add pretending to be from goggle, which I closed. Second attempt brought up some other dodgy website. I've just tried again, and although it did go through, it passed through a page with an "UGG Boots" in its title.

They may have some issues on that site just now, so take care

edit: just checked going direct and it looks okay. Clicking the google link gave me all the problems, which is weird... http://www.miniaturefigurines.co.uk/Home.aspx should be clean. I'm off to report the google link to google

The russian company that makes 10mm (or 15mm?) plastic sci-fi tanks and mechs is called "Tehnolog". They are also the makers of the 28mm game Robogear and another game called Brone-something-or-other.  I have the 28mm versions of the small scale tanks and they're quite nice.

For 10mm it's also worth seeing what's available from the now-defunct Mechwarrior clix lines. There were a huge number of Mecha, infantry, vehicles and even some aircraft.  Some are cheaper than others, but there's still quite alot of it floating around out there.   We've built many 10mm sci-fi armies from rebased mechwarrior clix.

Nice work! :D

May I recommend the Dropship Commander miniatures as well. And then mainly their UCM and Resistance lines, which would mesh really well with your project... :)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Thanks for the link for the Tehnolog they have some great miniatures however I am struggling to find out what scale they are.  But I suppose with it being sci-fi it doesn't really matter.

I used to play MechWarrior many years ago, so that would most certainly be an excellent source for vehicles and Mechs.

Thanks for taking the time to post it's been most helpful and appreciated

Take care

Andy
