Urban War Viridian Colonial Marines
« on: 24 April 2016, 11:06:20 PM »
After the thread a few weeks ago about Urban War I dug out my handful of painted models from back in the day.

These were painted back in 2005/2006 and whilst I had intentions of adding to them I got sidetracked with other stuff and that was that. A couple of weeks ago though I thought I'd see if I could replicate the colour scheme as I had a couple of models prepped and ready to go (and covered in 10 years of dust!). Here's my new trooper 27 on the right and one of my old paint jobs, trooper 12 on the left. I decided to go with rebasing them all too as the lipped edge bases look too big and bulky on them.

A pretty good match although a few areas are somewhat improved. With that in mind I decided to retouch the old paint work to bring them in line with my current model. Basically the guns, muddy boots, metals and a few sharper highlights here and there.

Here's trooper 27 again along with troopers 12 and 03 with their redux paint work and bases all finished.

Two more marines to retouch and then the sniper. Once I've got a suitable base and figured out a few additional improvements I'll tackle the saurian rider.

Very nice. PJ suits these super well and pops in all the right places for me, too.  :-*

Television is rather a frightening business. But I get all the relaxation I want from my collection of model soldiers. P. Cushing

Excellent! I especially like the metal edged, black shoulder pads. 8)

Oh yes, fantastic. I think the Viridians are the only Urban War models I really like and your work is the best I have seen 8)

Initially they were the only faction I really liked as well. Syntha got better once the resculpts were released. Triads and Gladiators grew on me over time though and Koralon have some interesting bits and pieces. I am rather keen on VASA right now and have ideas for colour schemes but the models are quite costly for what they are.

Thanks for the comments everyone.  :)

I think the Viridian Marines are perhaps the only 'big shoulder pad' models from that time that still work for me.

Top work.   :o

Love these figures.  And Viridian stuff was my favourite faction.
