20mm SF wants?
« on: 02 May 2016, 04:46:54 PM »
Hi, after years of procrastinating I've finally got a range of 20mm sci fi underway. The human force will be the first to be made, and they will be helmeted and carapace-armoured. Dolly parts for the helmet, torso and rifle have just been completed.

Question for you is, what opposing force would most 20mm SF gamers want to see?  Another human faction, sentient aliens (and if so, humanoid or not), or bugs?  Thanks.

YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!  ;D

Sorry. I kinda lost my head there....

I play a lot of 20mm SciFI and I will strongly and persistently plead for BUGS!

As alien lifeforms are manifold using either 15mm or 28mm for humanoid alien figures works perfectly well. However, all available bugs are either too small or too large. Especially the sleek carapaced elongated-headed ones.....

Well, that becomes a bit of a problem due to developments over the past few years.  I think those of us who make figures can be forgiven for getting inspiration in the past from those creatures you're referring to, but as someone paid good money for the license it would be a bit rude to make new products.

So how about different bugs?

20mm bug-eyed aliens would be nice as well  :D

Or Octopoids? Brain-robot cyborgs?

Great news on new 20mm scifi.

I think a great opposing force would be an alien line with comparable weapons and armour to the humans.  I can think of various sources of 'bug-hunt' type figures to use in 20mm. On the other hand, 20mm armed aliens are very scarce, even more than armed humans.

As for body plan etc,  please let then not be 'uplifted' earth creatures (cats/dogs etc).  Your Cnidarians (which I do use for 20mm) are a great example of truly alien figs.  They could be a good start to an expanded range, with command/alternate weapons/armour etc?

Pijie, check out Reverisco's Homophage, I use them as the Xeno you described to play 20mm Space Hulk games.

Drop them a line, if you do, ask them about their 20mm figs for a certain Mysterious Dr.

Apologies for the link to the blog, I'm new to  the forum and still working out how to post pics

It's funny, people ask for non-human aliens but don't buy them.  Haven't sold a set of Cniderians in over a year.  :-)

I guess its a pretty broad description, though. Chances are if you ask 10 people what kind of non human aliens you want to see, your going to get 12 different answers.

I think that's the problem with them -- everyone wants them but everyone has their own idea of what they should look like.

And even those who don't particularly voice an opinion might not like what somebody else comes up with. Its a challenge.

Too late for me. Been waiting for years for 20mm sci-fi, did a few things, convinced myself to stay on course all that time. Gave up a couple of months ago, now rooting for the 15mm sci-fi team. Ridiculous amount of choice there these days.

But my 2 cents - do something with droids/robots. 1 type can work for many scales depending on the looks....so you can cater to a broader audience.

since i own many of the oldie real 25mm, i'd be interested  on any robot/droid on 20mm, or perhaps on any alien  either on 20mm  or bulkier-than-human 25mm ;) ::)

Yep, I make tons of that myself.  :-)

I'm just making a small 20mm range because people have always asked for it, and because some of my 15mm alien stuff works as 20mm as well, so a small range of 20mm humans would be something for them to oppose.
