Mixed medieval infantry
« on: 21 May 2016, 01:53:52 PM »
Here are some fotos of my recent painting project. I had a lot of leftovers from my different Perry medieval boxes, so I thought I´d mix them together with some Fireforge sergants and Gripping Beast darkage warriors I had laying around. I know its not original, but I had never tried it yet.

I use my medieval miniatures for Hail Caesar and Lions Rampant. They are all mounted on 6x4 cm bases with 6 heavy inf. models pr. base, 4 archers/crossbow/handgun and 5 for mixed inf. Originally the units were 20 strong with 4 bases each. This turned out to be a bit to big for playabilty, so I usually use then 3 base strong. I still paint then in Baches of 20 though.

These guys where going to be mixed with both archers, crossbows and handguns making up the missile troops. With the scalearmour from Fireforge I was thinking something along the line of the armours found on Gotland from the battle in 1361.

Here are the first finished 6 miniatures

Here are some i process before ink and highlight

and finally the last 8 with only priming

I hope to have then ready and based by the end of next week.

Those are great Erik. Very nice use of leftovers. Apart from the handguns, they'd be perfect for A Game of Thrones...  :D

Oh very nicely done!

The guy with the hammer and buckler in the first photo is just brilliant, really has volumes of character.  :)

The leftmost primed fella with the polehammer is positively oozing cool.  :-*  These look great! it's really amazing the kind of variety you can get in your footmen these days with all the lovely plastic kits around.  :)

They look great. You've come up with some really nice figure variations.

Thank you fore all the nice comments. Here are the last miniatures painted ready, and finally the whole unit based and flocked

I was going fore a select levy kind of look with mixed, but mainly decently armed infantry. I will use then for my Scandinavian based games dating mainly to the 15th century. Main adverseries are the Holstein counts and henchmen but should a rebellious swede get in the way they are more than welcome.
