some questions
« on: 05 June 2016, 03:56:47 PM »
I'm maybe going to start antiquity? Looking for solo rules up to 60 miniatures a side.
Are the Victrix romans in scale armour and carthagian warriors good sculpts? Same for Gripping Beast  Late Romans and Dark age warriors?

Cheers,

The Victrix Romans and Carthaginians are very good sculpts but they have been designed for ranked units and are not very dynamic so wouldn't suit smaller warbands as well as some others.  The exception is the Roman velites which are very good and the new Spanish troops which have a lot of good poses.  The Gripping Beast Dark Age warriors are ok scuplts in my opinion but have a limited number of poses.  Haven't bought the late Romans but most of the threads on the subject suggest thay have the same limitations.

If you are not buying many figures you might do better with some metal figures or at least supplement the plastics with some.  Can't help you with the rules as we use Hail Caesar which is definitley not suitable for 60 figs a side.
