Great zombies, I really like how you connected them to your other gangs.

Nice work on the zombies.

With the final 13 finished, here’s the whole 33-strong zombie horde, all ready for the Meeeeeeeeeat! Scenario at the Watford Wargames Club Necromunda Christmas bash (link below if anyone is local is and fancies some ‘Munda in the post-Christmas void).  This batch are a mix of Wargames Atlantic Cannon Fodder and Dark Age Irish, and Fireforge Games Living Dead Peasants.  The Cannon Fodder and Dark Age Irish were converted a bit with some Anvil Industry heads & arms, and spare heads and arms from the Living Dead Peasants.  As low-rent NPCs, I figure I can get away with the straight up ye olde peasant’s clothing without too much sci-fi-ing up because: a. 40K is down with the retro stylings and b. amidst the wider horde of more sci-fi-y looking zombies, they don’t stand out too much.

I really like them, those Necromunda bases properly 40k-ify peasant zombies too.

Yes, I was a little surprised how much the bases helped, but the peasants fit right in.

It’s been a bit of an epic journey getting 5/6 of the Mercator Pallidus Corpse Harvesting Party done.  I’d got part way through them and began losing my mojo – they’re lovely sculpts, but there’s soooo much detail it was starting to become a chore to paint.  In the end I decided to put them on hold and get stuck into Project Zombie, which turned out to be just the palate cleanser I needed, and was able to return to them all refreshed and enjoyed finishing them off.  The Pale Consort is briefly on hold to be done alongside Lady Credo – but before I tackle those two young ladies, next up are the Imitation of Life Hivescum Steve and Chris “Underhiver” Iddon figures from SumpCon3.

I love this little fella:

For some reason I want to call these two little tinkers Itchy and Scratchy:

Enough detail to warrant a back shot:

I was one of the fortunate few to secure a ticket to this quarter of the great cycle’s hottest event in the Underhive, SumpCon3, hosted by Sump City’s favourite radio station.  A pleasant surprise* this year was the attendee gift pack including a brace of rather lovely Imitation of Life sculpts of the hosts (along with rules to use them as Dramatis Personae).  They’re absolutely lovely sculpts, chock full of character and nice details to pick out (but not feeling as ‘fussy’ to paint as some of the Forge World sculpts occasionally can).  The Steve figure also comes with a great sprue of five alternative pistols that is useful bits box fodder.  (When I finally start seriously addressing terrain,** I’ll need to include an SCR broadcast shack for these two to hang out at.)  Anyway, without further ado, may I present Hivescum Steve and Chris “The Underhiver” Iddon.

(Now all we need is some Guilders Ford Radio figures and we’re all set for an Anchorman-style radio hosts fight.)

* Much more pleasant than, say, that time my opponent rolled a 6 on his Threadneedle Worms and proceeded to Seriously Injure all but one of my gang on turn two.  (In the words of Pvt Hudosn: “Game over man!”)

** Looking at how much I have planned for next year, terrain may be a 2025 thing.
