Pulp, Back of Beyond Firefly crew
« on: August 20, 2016, 01:23:44 PM »
I have a silly idea of creating a group of River Pirates for my Back of Beyond Pulp games, and I thought I would look for suitable models to represent all the members of the Firefly Crew. I will be using one of the lovely HLBS boats as the Firefly.
I already have Jayne (Copplestone BoB American adventurer with BAR), thinking of converting Copplestone Mongol princess to be on foot for Inara, Copplestone Chinese Bandit Girl for River, so need a Chinese doctor (ish) figure for Simon, probably use Foundry Cossack preacher for Derrick Book, may use one of the female archeoligist figures (gun no hat) for Zoe, I need Hoban to be a river pilot so thinking of one of the Russian sailor officers.
So looking for suitable figures to represent
Mal: Adventurer with long coat and Pistol ( just thought of putting Copplestone Indy head on Tsuba bandit in long coat)
Inara: any easier/better options
Simon: Chinese doctor type
Kaylee: female engineer/mechanic
All need to be compatible with Copplestone BoB range.
Thanks for any suggestions

Nice figs but I am loosely basing them on the crew archetypes and looking for 1920's Pulp versions.

Although he is not wearing a long coat, this fellow would make a good Mal (or maybe Simon) --

A bit young, but I think she's a good Kaylee --

Maybe a bit out of place in the B of B, but that's why she'd make a cool Inara --

Another option for River --

Shepherd Book --

Another option for Mal and Zoe --

Another option for a Jayne --

Another option for River --

An Operative/Bounty Hunter chasing River --

All made by Pulp Alley -- https://store.pulpalley.com/

Also, I'd suggest combing thru Artizan's Thrilling Tales. You might some good options there. And they fit well with our Pulp Alley and the Copplestone minis.

I vbelieve wild west exodus and studio mcvey made "not firefly" crews.
never trust a horse, they make a commitment to shoes that no animal should make.

They are intended to be the same scale. I have lots of Copplestone and Artizan, so I wanted to make sure they all play together nicely. Here's an old pic...
