We are using Impetus.  Not really a rules person leave that to our lad!

Thank you for the answer. 
I plan to build up a WotR-army too. Richard III. army at Bosworth, because of the cavalry. I will use mostly Perry-miniatures for this project, but i guess, that now some Foundry minis will find their way to me. Your minis look way better, than the painted ones at the Foundrysite.

They may be getting old but they are still very nice looking figures.

The surface of the boards (These not made by me) are a mix of sand, sawdust and fine grit.  To be honest anything!  this is mixed with PVA and spread on a foam base.  Usually it is painted Black then painted up using Black and yellow paint mix adding more yellow to finish with.  The Boards are just a thin plywood base with wooden edges.  Just a note that early ones we did add Dental plaster to the mix but don't bother other than for doing roads.
