I notice that nobody has based their vehicles.
Is this a scale reason or a rules reason?
I only base vehicles if one or more of the following apply:
a) the vehicle is very small and would look strange next to figures
b) the vehicle would be unstable without a base or has parts (ie wheels) that might come off
c) I want the vehicle to fulfil a very specific role that is visually aided by a scenic base.
To explain:
1.My "Road-to-Stalingrad" German Army will include several motorcycles in a scout role. The models will topple unless based (b)
2. My SCW collection now includes a BA-6, an FT-17 and a Panzer I. All are made from Cardboard, thus inherently unstable, and (in 1:56th scale) small, so I based them on old telephone cards I had lying around, using the bases to blend the dark vehicles (green and dark grey) with the lighter (khaki) Interbrigadists (a, b and c)
3. I´m currently restoring a damaged Maultier which will be used for the Wolfenfels game. This will require a base since the running gear is pretty fu**ed up and won´t be stable unless pinned or based. The areas are to small for pinning, therefore I base. And I´ll be able to add some track marks into the dirt base which will add to the looks (b and c).
