RuneWars: The Miniatures Game from Fantasy Flight Games
« on: November 01, 2016, 09:01:18 AM »
Just saw a posting about a new minis game coming from Fantasy Flight Games

Quote
Enter a world of blood and war with RuneWars: The Miniatures Game, a two-player miniatures game set in the vibrant fantasy realm of Terrinoth. Each game, you must command your blocks of figures, outmaneuvering your opponent and fighting to crush his forces on the field of battle. With hundreds of ways to customize your army, including by painting your figures, you can bring your army to life as you lead them to victory against your foes.

More rules are always welcome. Hopefully they'll be reasonably generic and less pricey per figure than the Star Wars lines (I do like the Armada ships, but man, they're not cheap)

This was brought up a couple months ago - not sure if they did a Kickstarter for it.  I think it's ballsy, considering the questionable market for more regiment-based fantasy games.  I wish them luck though, and if not...sell it off cheap for some figures.  I'd be very curious to see the quality of the figures.  I think the movement sticks (ala X-wing etc.) are a fantastic idea though for regiment blocked units.  I don't find the bases attractive at all and the figures don't wow me.

Not usually one for Threadcromancy but I didn't really want to start a new topic.

I assume FFG are dumping this game, as I notice the prices dropped considerably (at this retailer anyway)

May be of interest to some!

Yeah.. game is dead (dying?) and gone. FFG has pulled all support. The general consensus is it suffered from too few releases at start and then by the time releases started to come out... interest was already too low. Honestly seems like the same thing happened to StarWars Legion (in my area anyway).. came out with only 2 factions and a few add on units at launch. Everyone's forces being the same, interest immediately went south. But, presumably because of the license they kept pushing forward, where RuneWars got dumped. Now with SW Legions CloneWars starter box announced interest is starting to ramp up again.

The minis are pretty good (now also cheap) and make great armies for SAGA AoM and WoE :)

Yah I was just on the website looking to add to a future wood elf army... shipping was WAY too high though... have to wait for a supplier in the states to liquidate. My wallet is safe.... for now.
