(Commercial) W79: Flight of the Wild Geese
« on: 02 November 2016, 11:31:55 PM »
Bringing a new hope to the Establishment on your W79 battlefields, MBM has been quietly (ish) working on a range of 28mm Private Army Mercenaries.

These will be in DPM, older pattern webbing, some mis-shapen berets, and a mix of weapons such as Uzis, SLRs, FN FALs, Bren and FN MAG.  These are sculpted and with the casters, but a sneak peak of what they were looking like so far (there's also a chap with a Bren who was a bit camera shy):

For African dictators with a wildfowl problem, we have also been working on a line of 28mm generic African paratroopers.  These will be in denisons, Portuguese caps, and FN FAL 50.61s.  Same status on these guys, so apologies for the camera-phone pictures:

These guys are all available for pre-order through a low profile BravoGoGo that we've been running.  Once back from the casters we'll be upping the PR and probably moving to Kickstarter to widen out the range to cover Congo proper (UN troops, Katangan Gendarmes etc etc).

'Wave 1'  (pictured) is sculpted and at the casters - those ordering in the next couple of weeks should have them by December.  'Wave 2/3' (6 extra mercs and 5 extra Africans) should be available during mid/late December.

Feedback welcome as there's still time to influence the yet-to-be-sculpted chaps.

I think Matakishi made something about the geese for Wargames Illustrated. These figures would fit perfect. Great stuff.

Gamer Mac - our wave 4 target is actually a vickers team, a chap with a Blindicide, and a medic.

Would also like to do a universal pack of a couple of politicians 'good' and 'bad', missionary/nun, etc but that may be a little ways off.

Interesting! They'd be very good representations of Dutch infantry in the early nineties as well, with those berets, FAL's, UZI's and MAG's.

I've always wanted to do a squad or two of my old unit, and these, combined with Crooked Dice's UNIT miniatures might just be the thing to finally get them together...
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Out of interest, is there any chance of some head packs? In particular, beret heads, balaclava heads and M1 helmet heads?

Great to see this, always fancied gaming that movie ;D

As a request/suggestion, how about some of the African troopers with Machetes as well as their rifle?

Daeothar - hold that thought! I'll PM you over the weekend to get more info  (again - I think we discussed a while back?)

Dieselmonkey - short answer is yes, we can. Probably in the new year as I've busted our budget.

Malamute - Robi has sculpted a machete which can be added to the figures, but presume you mean being wielded? Might be something we can do if enough people would be keen.
