New Child Board - "Rogue Stars"
« on: December 28, 2016, 08:59:15 AM »
Hi all,

following a suggestion and some deliberation, we decided to install a Child Board for the new "Rogue Stars" ruleset. We'll see how it goes and if the popularity of the rules continues to thrive.

Any topic which focuses exclusively on aspects of this ruleset should be posted here, as may be "project" threads on painting minis if the focus is predominantly on using them with "Rogue Stars". If your project isn't predominantly about aspects of "Rogue Stars", it might be better off in the general Future Wars board.

I moved a number of "Rogue Stars"-themed threads to the child board. If I missed yours, drop me a PM or post a reply in the thread and I will move them over.

Finally, if starting new topics, please keep in mind that many people do not browse LAF by board but rather use the "Unread Topics" function. For that reason, please use a clear and descriptive title so your topic can be found (also goes for searches). Using "Rogue Stars" in the topic title if the thread is about it helps people find stuff that might be of interest to them.

Awesome idea.  Do child forums that wither over time become archived, moved into parent forums, or just linger?

Baffling. It'll be flavour of the month for four weeks and then dwindle.

Why not leave it in SF? It's not as if the board was overwhelmed by it and just adds a few more clicks to find the posts, reducing passing views.

If it is turns out to be less vigorous than Frostgrave, we'll probably fold it back into the main board.

Right now, it is about as popular (by thread count) as FG was when we established the board for that.

Nice to see you will keep track of posts.

The 'too many boards' syndrome is something other groups suffer from a lot.  One computing group had a board for each chipset till it got potty...

For me though the initial reviews have put me off so I'll skip for now.

I see no reason it should dwindle away. If the supporters remain as committed and supportive as they have been since well before the launch it should thrive. Down to the people who game it I guess.

Given the likelihood of expansions I think Rogue Star players will have plenty to discuss over the coming months.

I think Rob mentioned the most important thing: expansions. Once games won't get new releases, hypes tend to die down and most players will move on. So if Osprey will keep it up like they do with Frostgrave, this game can have a long life span 8)

Nice!

I really hope RS gets the support from Osprey and us gamers to continue to merit its own board here. Pretty sure at least one expansion - covering vehicles - is necessary. Others would surely be welcome!

Nice to see Rogue Stars getting a Child Board so quickly. Got my book the day before Christmas, and I've started tucking into it. A game sheet and a quick sheet would be a nice, but I can manage coming up with my own if I have to.

Smith from Osprey has posted around here to let us know that a QRS and roster sheet are in the works as free downloads.
