Great looking vehicles.
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

The Guards badge on the door is inspired by plate B on page 9 of Combat Vehicles of Russia's Special Forces by Mark Galeotti published by Osprey.

The first reference I have to this kit is March 2018, so it has taken me some time to get this far.

With some Zona Alfa (Empress Russian and Universal Soldier) for scale.

Nice, I enjoy the stenciled icon on the door.

Thanks.

I am trying to come up with a paint job for a security patrol vehicle for The Zone for the next one.

It has been a while since I posted here.

Some Empress US Marines (in Gas Masks) take cover behind their HMMWV transport.

Note, that is 1/50 scale dust on that HMMWV and not 305mm to the foot dust...

Honest.

Slightly delayed from when I posted these on my blog.

Law Enforcement Officers.

These are built with Empress US02 US Army bodies and Empress Russian RUS13 heads with visors.

The RUS13 heads represent Russian Special Forces helmets with ballistic armoured visors with view slits. As I was after slightly less armoured visors, I filed off the view slit, smoothing it down to represent  a clear visor.

I have another set awaiting assembly.

Re: Ultravanillasmurf's Modern WIP - Derek the Mall Ninja 22/01/2021

There are a couple of definitions of a "Mall Ninja", one of which is wannabe with more money than sense.

Derek certainly fits that definition, he also makes Alice look like a sceptic.

I had not noticed the beard until I looked at the photograph (though it is clear on the Empress page).

My Gun-Fu is weak, I am guessing it is a HK 416 derived rifle (the mag looks too small for 7.62 ammo).

Re: Ultravanillasmurf's Modern WIP - HLBSCo Spartan WIP 13/03/2021

So Empress has released a re-worked version of the HLBSCo 1/48 scale Spartan APC. This has prompted me to dig out my 2019 purchase:
https://ultravanillasmurf.blogspot.com/2019/07/hlbsco-spartan-apc.html
The Empress re-work includes white metal detail parts such as hatches and tools, which will make assembly so much easier than the resin items on the HLBSCo version..

However back to the kit I have.

One of the things that has stopped me moving on with the kit is the track units. The Empress Scimitar has a one piece track unit in resin. The HLBSCo model has a white metal track unit (with extended axles on the idler and sprocket) with two loose road wheels and no fixing points for the road wheels.

I started by drilling 3mm diameter holes centred on the circular structures on the lower hull side. I should have measured the positions as the circular structures are not in the same location on both sides - I ended up having to hand "mill" the holes to make it fit on the second side.

The hull moulding is beautiful, though guide holes for the smoke dischargers would be nice)
There is still lots to do (glueing the splash board to the hull side is obvious), plus a decision on the period and the lighting arrangement (early with lights under the splash board, middle with lights on top of the splash board and three stowage boxes or late with lights under and a full width box). There will be some soft stowage as well.
