Age of Sigmar Stormcast Eternal (unit finished!)
« on: 18 January 2017, 08:35:11 PM »
Something for myself here. My first AoS Stormcast Eternal, a Liberator. Really enjoyed doing this and have another four being prepped just in case I can actually put a unit together.

Those are great metallics! What were the colors used for the armor. It has a really nice aged gold look to it. Actually, more of a brass with the greenish-blue shadows. It looks really good.

I think that's the first time I liked this model.

Great brush.

Great stuff!

I noticed in the GW thread you said Silver Tower started you on the road to liking AoS. Do you play on painting some of the awesome figures from Silver Tower?

Thankfully I wrote the colours down so I can reproduce them properly on the other models.

VMC Bronze base coat, highlight with VMC Old Gold, then add VMA Steel for lighter highlights. GW Agrax Earthshade and Nuln Oil wash (slightly thinned) to shade and then a blue/brown paint wash in places to add further depth. Bring back some of the highlights with more Old Gold and Steel, then a green paint wash in places to add a slight touch of tarnish. It's not as much faffing as it might sound.  ;)

I'd love to but I'm very slow to get anything done for myself. Really like the Tzeentchian stuff anyway but I'm all the more keen what with all the new releases.

Wow, that's a great looking model.

It's already been said but the metalwork is very nicely done indeed, very smooth highlights on the curved surfaces, lovely.

Nice! I must admit I didn't like these, they are growing on me though, they are actually not bad to paint! Grand job on this one too

I didn't care for them at first either. Oddly enough the Knight Questor in Silver Tower turned me.

The VMC metallics look much smoother than the ones I use. I should probably give those a try. The overall color choice is what try to go for with the armor for a lot of the DeepWars minis, and for the most part the steps are the same with the base coats, washes, and highlights though with differnet paint and inks. My metallic paintowork is not nearly as smooth and clean as these though. It is always a pleasure to see such smooth and clean work.

I think looks great - really like the bronze/old gold look, I think it suits them.  :)

Two things caught my eye:

1) The little wedge of plastic near his foot where it meet the tabard - might be worth trimming out at least a bit on the others with a knife? Doesn't take too long, but it *really* improves the look of push-fit plastics even if you don't remove all of it (I know because I did it with my Dark Angels!).

2) The base! I love it (the flagstones, the colour, everything!). Although I'm sure it's very simple, could I ask what you used to make it, and what the paint colour is please?  :-*
