I'm thinking about moving to your city just for the swap meets.  All we have here is old china and beat up pokemon cards.

Great work on the Moisture evaporators and stargate!

I love the pegasus chemical plant stuff.  I don't find it all that interesting on it's own, but it's absolute gold for bringing a bit of pipes and industrial looks to other kit/scratch/toy builds.

Keep it up!

Oldben1, having a great model train shop, Brookhurst Hobbies and the-swap-meet-from-Heaven all within a short drive makes me a very lucky boy.

eilif, your approach may turn out to be the way I have to go, but now that I have the pipe halves glued together I'm going to take a shot at designing a chem plant... all part of the fun or so I'm telling myself.

After finishing my third scratch-built Moisture Vaporator, I decided to turn my attention to a few more small terrain pieces from Horizon Creation 3D.  I put together six of their sonic pylons, two large and four small relay points, and a power silo.  The relays and power silo were actually thank-you gifts Horizon sent me when I made my container and pylon purchases… nice folks.  The sonic pylons required some time to put together, but they all were easy to paint, and I think will add interest to my spaceport layout.  Now that these are done, it’s back for another try at the Pegasus chem plant.

Not to say that they aren't great for a chem plant.  I just think they're more effective when combined with larger tanks, pump stations, rather than on their own.  Here's a couple I did.

Also, I admit that since they've become harder to get in the US I've become even more stingy with the Chem Plant pieces.

Just finished above-ground pipes and my Pegasus chemical unit.  The large, resin overhead pipe unit by Armorcast is one that I purchased many years ago.   It includes one more pipe section and support that I couldn’t fit in this picture.  The large pipe half is made from a necklace hanger that my wife was throwing out.  I attached a couple pieces from the Pegasus chemical plant on top of it to give it a little more interest value.  The chemical unit is made from pieces from the Pegasus Chemical Plant.  I’m actually pretty happy with the way it came out though it does reflect the fact that building the Pegasus chemical plant stretched my modeling talent.  I still have to apply the ground cover, but that should be no problem.  I’ll be taking on the Pegasus Power Plant next.  Thankfully it has half the pieces (150 vs. 300) and comes with real directions.

Looking good. I have some of that Armorcast pipeworks stuff too. Now I have to find it. You'll be happy with the Power Plant kit. It's a much easier build, and it looks fantastic when it's done.

Thanks Michka.  I got distracted on Wednesday and did some work on some Wizards of the Coast Star Wars troop carriers so  I haven't started the Power Plant yet, but your words make be feel better about getting into it.

I'm with Michka. The power plant is really easy to assemble and has a very complete look once finished. Of course I couldn't resist modding and tweaking the one I rebuilt for my buddy.

Thanks! Happy to help.  I think I said as much in the linked topic, but I designed it to have enough nooks for skirmish games, but it has 3 separate areas that can offer cover to at least a 10 man squad.

I finished the Pegasus Power Plant today.  This was certainly a much easier model to put together than the Chemical Plant… no comparison.   The Power Plant not only comes with some usable directions (pictures), the pieces go together in such a fashion that it has enough structural strength that it does not fall apart as you add new pieces.  The Chemical Plant was “designed” to allow the builder to do whatever the builder wanted in terms of the structure of the plant, but it was so delicate that as you tried to add new pieces, the previous work fell apart.  Anyway, happy to have them both done, and I think they will be good additions to the spaceport.  I should add that I borrowed the color scheme for my power plant from Michka's power plant.

Looking good. I love that kit. When I found another Power Plant kit hidden in the basement a couple weeks ago I squealed with joy. (This was something of a surprise to the wife, who had no idea why yet another box of miniatures stuff would be so wonderful.)
