I'm always sooo jealous of your 'finds'!😉 It's as if you just trip over all these things in the street!😆 Great work! 8)

Andym, what scares me is the number of things I leave "in the street" because I don't realize their potential at the time that I see them.  Glad you like them.  Thanks for taking the time to write.  Richard

That's why I have an ever-increasing collection of toy ships, just in case I decide to venture into pirate wargaming someday!  :D

dinohunterpoa, believe I know the feeling.  Last year my wife bought me a storage shed for Christmas.

 lol lol lol lol lol

Last year I moved in to my girlfriend's house, and she says that was not because of her personality and gorgeous looks, nor the beachfront location or her model friends that are always around; she says I moved in because of the spare bedroom to be converted in a games room!  :D

Vampifan, a great THANK YOU for your support!  lol lol lol lol lol

My mother once said she never had problems in living for 20 years with a 10X5 ft. WARGAMES SANDBOX in the garage, the problem was to have to go outside in the cold and rain to get to her car for 20 years! lol

The roots of this collection are in the opening episode of Firefly when Serenity lands at Eavesdown Docks.  I loved the look of the place… its frontier quality and its many cultures and technologies.  During that episode the crew walked to and from their ship through a wonderful marketplace and past a backdrop of stacked shipping containers.  That shipping container background seemed brilliant to me, and I decided that if I was able to put together my own frontier spaceport I wanted to include a backdrop of shipping containers.  Initially I thought that I would have to build my own shipping containers out of Duplos and Evergreen plastic but a couple years ago Reaper came out with the shipping containers I needed, and I made a deal with a local store for a big discount if I bought a bunch of them, and here they are.  As with my smaller shipping containers and barrels I decided to go with a lot of different bright colors because the spaceport town is largely earth tones and metal colors.

A big thanks for finding the Disneyland tram. I like the retro look and it's perfect scale, it may find a place in my project as well. The Disney store online does sell it but at a big price for us Canadians. Always impressed by your build up, each piece is a treat to see.
Have you thought of what your future project may be? I hope you stay with sci-if as this is where my present interest lies and I would enjoy the ongoing inspiration.

Aquamarine, this project is drawing to a close in terms of the production phase.  I expect that I will continue to post things on this thread through June, but a couple of the key elements (the spaceship interior and the cantina interior) I will probably not post on this thread but will hold them for the posting of the finished, staged gallery which I plan to have photographed and posted on my website and here in July.  As to my next project, it will be another 28mm collection.  As of this moment I plan to begin a Post Apoc collection in July.  That project was inspired by the Atomic Café work of members of LAF.  It will center on a desert community in the Nevada desert in the 1950s/loosely.

So many nice containers that I can't find the one with the "Dont Open Dead Inside" grafiti!  :o

Sometimes I just get carried away, but I think they are going to look great behind the spacecraft lining my spaceport... we'll see.

They need labels, logos, code numbers, signs of wear.

But brilliant all the same
