INQ28 - The Drift
« on: February 23, 2017, 05:49:09 PM »
I've wandered into the insanity that is Inq28 and converting lots of figures. It's an incredibly liberating experience and very creatively satisfying. My first couple of figures were converted from Warlord Historicals and a Black Scorpion Cowboy. But the first completed one is this little chap:

"Does it have to do that?"
"Repent... Repent... Repent..."
The constant mutter could be heard even over the howling of the dust devils and crackle of las fire. The Servitor shambled forward, servo-skull waving like a cobra, picking off targets with pinpoint accuracy.
"Repent.... Repent... Repent..."
"Yes," Smith murmured, looking away from what had once been a man. "I rather think he does."

I've started to work up some background for my little corner of the 40K universe which I've dumped with the WiP shots of the first two builds here: http://critfailure.blogspot.co.uk/2017/02/the-drift-part-i.html

And there's more pictures of the second here: http://critfailure.blogspot.co.uk/2017/02/the-drift-part-ii.html

I should have the other two painted up and ready to show shortly...

Those are some lovely figures, & a cracking paintjob on the servitor.  One observation I have on their armament - based upon playing a bit of Inq28 last year - is that with bolters & plasma pistols, expect people to drop dead with great regularity.

The chances of me actually getting to play a game with these is beyond slim :)

I'm more or less goign with the parts I have to hand and what looks cool.

I like the figure, and I like the fluff. Makes for a rather sinister completed figure, kudos to you! Very good stuff.

Two minor niggles, which I really hope you won't mind me mentioning. There is a wee blob of grey on his right foot, which I don't think is meant to be there (I like the yellow tone which is how I noticed!). He might 'pop' more if it was adjusted. Also, I think there is a mould line running up his boot and trousers in the 2nd picture. BUT that could be explained away as a clothing seam I imagine  :)

Look forward to seeing more!

Don't mind at all! Got too caught up with the spirit of invention to watch out for the basic stuff, I guess. The grey on the foot I did.notice.but left because I'm going to Drybrush grey dust over the legs and feet later. The mold line I just didn't spot!

In which case character death is less of an issue, so cool can prevail.

These are ace!  I always love seeing people's 40k conversions and yours are suitably "Blanche"-like!

Even the hourglass looks like it's filled with grey-green gloop.  Probably radioactive, mutagenic and best eaten in small quantities (or not at all)!

Once again, very nice.  These are the kind of conversions that I wish I had the imagination and/or skill to put together myself.  I hope you manage to get some games in with them.

Looking sharp so far! I love me some servitors. Very inspiring.

Where did you find the Inq28 rules? Sometimes I feel like you have to be in a special club to gain access to it!

Here: http://www.the-conclave.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=34.0.  There's also a lot of the supporting material that got published and if you root around in the forum, there's some fan-written rules (particularly weapon stats) that are quite useful.

To be fair I tend to.use Rogue Trader rules but there's a few people doing some really interesting with Pulp Alley.

I arrived too late on the scene for Rogue Trader, but I assume the mechanics are similar to 40K 2nd Ed?

I'm not really familiar with Pupl Alley, although I've been intrigued by some of the AARs people have posted here.  [Edit: I just had a game of Pulp Alley at a wargaming show, I can see its potential for sci-fi skirmishing.]

I'm trying Rogue Stars at the moment, which is good fun and plays a lot faster than Inquisitor, albeit still with quite a good level of detail.  I'm also intrigued by Starport Scum, which has a good bundle deal offer at the moment http://www.wargamevault.com/product/206338/Starport-Scum-Epic-BUNDLE, which I'm quite tempted by at that price.
