Skirmish in Grimville a Dragons Rampant AAR and Part II
« on: 17 March 2016, 10:06:30 AM »
After a routine plunder of an ancient evil dungeon our band of heroes are now spending their hard earned gold in the sleepy village of Grimville and resting up for the next dungeon to empty.

But suddenly! The peace and guiet is broken by the evil sorcerror Veganus. As it turns out the ancient evil dungeon just emptied by our band of heroes belonged to Veganus and he wants his stuff back! His minions burst through the mostly abbandoned town wall.

Our Heroes are still shopping. There is Cronald the Barbarian shopping more weapons, Gimdur the dwarf is checking out the cheese and sausages, Ingo sackhill the Hobbit is buing some fruits and Aimon the wood elf is checking out some pottery and the wizard Ignolin is at the local wizards guildhouse.

Ingo sackhill senses something i wrong and moves to get a better view.

Orcs and other evil creatures try and sneak up on Cronald who is getting an update on current helmet fashion.

A giant tries to sneak throug an alley.

Gimdur spots the orcs and charges them to save his friend Cronald who is still talking helmet fashion.

On the other side of the square Ingo Sackhill is set upon by the Hogmen who promptly eats him.

The Giant smashes through a fence.

A mob of goblins courageously move to block off the heroes escape route on the outskirts of town.

Giant spiders swarm over the town.

Cronald lays some hurt on the giant who promptly flees.

Aimon the wood elf has laid low and moved through the alleys.

Where he is assaulted by the Goblins.

Aimon flees into the woods never to be seen again.

Disturbed by all the noise. Ignolin emerges from the Wizards guild and fires a firebolt at the hogmen across the square.

After that Gimdur charges them and hacks them down.

The Giant has come back for more. But is sent packing - again.

And again.

As the Goatmen swarm into the town square.

The two remaining heroes decide to leave town and get to safety.

They are cut off by the Goblins.

But Cronald drives the back.

But our heroes have lost just enough momentum, so they are caught by the rest of the evil minions.

With a mighty effort of Firebolts, lightning and blizzards biting and pulling hair. Ignolin manages to drive back the evil creatures.

And our heroes escape by the skin of their teeth.

To be continiued...

Fun report, thanks!  I like the wide mix of miniatures.  The white spiders are especially creepy, looks like they might be plastic toy spiders painted up?
So many games, so little time.

EPILOGUE

A few days after the encounter at Grimville Cronald and Ignolin are still stumbling lost around in the woods with supplies running low.

As they step out into a clearing they hear a faint sound from the trees. Out steps their friend Aimon the wood elf!

As Aimon tells our heroes the story of why he left the battle. The three companions hear a familiar traveling song and suddenly out of nothing the hobbit Ingo Sackhill materializes in the clearing.

With a smile the hobbit explains how he acquired this special 'other' ring in the dungeon. You don't have to be a Grand Master Wizard to figure out that this 'other' ring was the reason we were attacked in Grimville Ignolin says. We have to destroy either the ring or the evil wizard.
I know we're the evil creatures came from Aimon says...

Great looking game, terrain and figures.  What mat were you using as its very effective?
