Same old same from me here. Still that bloody shock marine although this time it's finished and has some half decent pics.

I will now lazily copy and paste from Facebook  ;)

Quote
The main model here is one of the earlier shock marine sculpts from 2004 but I swapped the head and shield out for parts from a 2007 resculpt. The original head I always thought looked a little small so the larger version works quite nicely. The later version of the shield has a bit more detail on it, mostly on the rear. Not a big difference but enough to sway me to swap it out.

I thought I'd post a comparison pic as well to show this marine next to a 2007 sculpt. The later ones are a bit bigger. Still nice but a touch too big next to my older colonial marine on the far right for my liking (another 2004 sculpt). I also really like the over sized robotic arm on the earlier sculpt, it makes me think of films like Ghost in the Shell or Appleseed.

No reason to mount him on a 30mm base other than it makes him look a bit beefier.  :)

I've still not forgotten about this project! It's been a little while but I've had another shock marine half painted and gathering dust for a few months. The other weekend I decided to try and move things along and get it finished.

Really glad to get it done at last and I might try and get the third one done sooner rather than later. That one's a sergeant and will round out the unit for now, then I can move onto another small unit of something different.

Some of my pics earlier in the thread seem to have disappeared for some reason, at least for me but if anyone is interested the finished pics of everything so far are in my gallery.

Pretty much perfect looking, not a thing I'd change. You knocked these out of the park.

Got a couple of additions to my strike team painted up.

A shock marine sergeant to go with the two troopers I did a while back. The head is a Hasslefree Miniatures one.

A commander in Lieutenant Johnny G. Originally from the Void line but transplanted into Urban War.

I've also started on a little three man squad of Special Forces guys. One done and hopefully not too long before I get the other two out the way.

Also converted a heavy gauss rifle gunner as the actual HGR models are later sculpts and don't mix well with my older models.

Adore the special forces squad. The cammo is just perfect!  8) 8)

I just submitted my last LPL entry, feeling pretty good about my painting, and then I open up to this. I don't know how you do it. You can take pretty much any figure and turn it into a jaw dropper.

Got a couple more special forces guys painted up. A sergeant and another trooper to make a nice mini squad to add to my strike team.

And the obligatory group shot.

The quality of your painting never cease to amaze me!

The conversion is also top notch, some of the sculpts however are IMO a bit "out of date".
Just imagine how thin the shock marine sergeant is under his armour...
;)

But that is true for all GW Space Marines before the Primaris sculpts also...
;)
cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - https://www.adpublishing.de

Urban Mammoth did rectify the shock marine issue with updated sculpts but I think they went a bit too far the other way and ended up making them oversized and completely roided out. My shock marines do have bigger heads than normal though which might not help but the original heads were so tiny in comparison to regular colonial marines I had to swap them out.
