The blue stuff is another thickness of styrofoam. I think the pink is 1", the blue is 5/8" and the white stuff is 1/8"...various levels to break up the board a little...

The only difference between the colours of foam insulation board is the brand.  Owens Corning owns the copyright/trademark for Pink Insulation.  Other companies produce blue or white.  They all come in varying thicknesses.

I guess the blue looks smaller...it was the stuff from your garage floor, Brett.  ;) had been gone at with a car tire by the looks of it...guess it compacted slightly...both blue and pink are compact/ easy to cut foam...the whits stuff has the bubbles...may take a little work to make them both have the same finish...the more I think about it the more I realise I should get one of those HUGE shaker tubs from Woodland Scenics...

WOW, Uncle Mike, I saw your amazing 'through the ice' monster and immediately went out and ordered two of him, along with eight of the tentacle clusters, for only $23 including shipping!

Your paint scheme is FAR superior to the stock 'pale purple' version.

Amazing stuff,  thanks for posting the photos !

That is just great, has anyone got the figure's link (uncle mike should take a commission!)

It's a great Idea, like Ben Grimm using the purple worm for Deadlands

Glad everyone thinks this is a good idea. Thanx for the encouragement! just finished the board and about 60% of the scenery. Got a couple Murch figures finished off and working on the Copplestone dog sled at the moment. Pretty happy with 'the look' of it all so far. Will post some pix when I get around to it...
