Thanks guys...

Snake is a plastic mini from one of the collectible/clix lines. I can’t remember brand, but I do remember removing the original base off of it.

I’ve had it for several years, think I picked it up from a bargain bin at a con. My search-fu not working this morning- couldn’t find it on google.

Pretty sure it's a D&D Miniatures Fiendish Snake from the Wrath of Ashardalon set.

EDIT:  Or maybe Blood War.  Maybe both.  Hard to tell from the images online.  Might be the same sculpt in each set.  If the base on yours is about 1" diameter it's more likely Wrath.

Definitely D&D fiendish snake - good call.

What can I say, I really like repainting the prepaint stuff.  Loads of junk that's not worth it (Sturgeon's Law holds true again) but also so many hidden gems that tend to get overlooked.  :)

Figures are all old Ral Partha (now Iron Wind Metals), purchased at several
Historicons from huge plastic bins filled with loose figs, and paid for by the ounce. I haven't been to the con in a couple years so don't know if the vendor is still doing that. Bought a bunch of these plus african animals and dungeon bits and bobs from the bins as well.

Yes, he still does that at all three cons (Cold Wars, Fall-In, and Historicon).

They have done some direct mail order too, for bits. I was either missing stuff, had incorrect parts or needed more.  Plan to do some more digging at the con this July.

Conversions are always easier with plastics, agreed.  Speaking of head swaps:
