Fantastic 54mm games at Cold Wars 2011

Two different tables covered with 54mm beauties.  An educated guess would point to either FIW or War of 1812, I stand ready to be corrected:

If it is F&I the flag in the first picture is incorrect. I am pretty sure that is an 1812 game with those "All The King's Men" figures. They do look impressive en masse like that!

As Aaron says, the flag is incorrect if the game shown is FIW or AWI, as the cross of St Patrick was not added to the Union flag until 1801. Looking at the figures, some seem to be from the AWI set of All the King's Men, and some in other shots are definitely from their War of 1812 set. So one game is either FIW, I suspect that is more likely looking at the terrain and figures than AWI, the other game is War of 1812. Either way they both look brilliant.

As one who dabbles in this scale for WWII, it is surprising that it is not as expensive as you would think. There are so many good (unpainted) plastic figs available  that compare very favourably with 28mm. My Conte plastic GIs worked out at little more than £1.00 per figure. Obviously if one were to invest in painted metal at this scale then you are talking some serious money. But they are so fun to paint and when you get old and crusty like me, a lot kinder to your eyes. Even those All the King's Men sets are not prohibitively expensive and come unpainted.

WOW! that's cool!

right, but it is also a big risk if you haven't seen the minis with your eyes before: some of them are awful!

By the way, for the naps Vyctrix is making a REALLY NICE line of 54mm minis!!!
