For my current project, I have been playing a siege campaign between my Warhammer Dwarf and Chaos armies.

I have been using Warhammer 8th edition, but with the siege rules from the Warhammer Siege book released in 5th edition.

The campaign is divided into "Siege turns" with the two armies choosing an action, which is usually a scenario each turn.

So far, I have played out an intro scenario and one turn for each faction.

Dangerous terrain to climb a HILL? ludicrous, so 8th. Why you don't play with 5th ed? At least those rules made sense.

Dangerous terrain test only apply to a specific type of hill, the scree slope, in which the ground is assumed to be uneven and difficult to traverse. Given the frequency with which my models fall over on this particular hill, it seemed like an appropriate rule.

I have had a soft spot for 5th edition for a long time, I probably played more games with it than any other edition. But, until Age of Sigmar (which in my view is really a different game) I have always kept my armies up to date with the latest rules and I have a fair few models with no rules in 5th edition.

Plus, I rather like the more uncertain and random nature of 8th edition, it's more interesting when playing against yourself.

Then your lack of hordes results refreshing to see :D

Hordes are not the most practical of things in 500 point armies. In any case, I've never been much of a competitive player.

In the latest instalment, the Chaos Horde test the Dwarfs defences and I get to try out the rules for assaulting the fortress.

This is it. The Final part of my Siege Campaign. It was big enough that I divided it into two parts on my blog.

Here are some highlights

Siege Tower goes down

It was a fantastic game and a hugely fun campaign, that really got me motivated to paint some models I'd had lying around for years. Sorry for the delay in finishing it off, I just had lots of busy weekends in a row.

Fire from the Ramparts

Storming the gate

Thrown from the walls
