Thanks, people!

In the meantime, I have replaced the Styrodur base construction with something made from MDF. I haven't entirely settled on what material to use for the water, and without Styrodur, the options of either using something solvent-based or this hot-melt stuff are still open.

Started painting the machinery bits as well:

Different angle. You can see Hylas on the cork in the right-hand corner (one of my own mediochre miniatures, slightly converted).

The final layout of pump, pipes and tank is still not settled. At the moment, everything is still blutacked together for me to play around with ;D

And a close-up of the rungs that lead onto the platform. I used staples for that, pretty easy to do. The handle bar is made from brass wire, bent into shape and inserted into pre-drilled holes.

Next: more wheathering, and stuff in the pool 8)

Ürgs, 3 weeks with almost no visible progress, and only one day to go...

Slowly getting there nonetheless. Here are the girls in various stages of completion:

And a shot of the overall layout.

Obviously, the water is still missing, which worries me a bit, since there is no time to experiment - the first try will have to do. Wish me luck o_o

Good luck with the water.
It deserves to come out well.

Much better job on the vixens than the ones I've done for my entry. I went for a blotchy purple due to the water immersion. The lighter colour looks loads better. Then I melted them with varnish  :)

Thanks, people!

I couldn't resist to take a few more pictures of today's progress :)

Dry-fitting the ladies:

Closeup of the pipe. Water was made from fishing line coated with PVA; I had hoped to produce something transparent, but in the end it became a standard drybrush, covered with high-gloss varnish  :? Still looks ok-ish, I think.

And now the moment you've all been waiting for: water! I settled for the Noch hot-melt stuff, mainly because Mrs Zafarelli still had some left over from a diorama project, and it is not as smelly as the polyester stuff (my second option). Don't really like it though. It needs to be heated to 180°C, and I burnt my fingers even though I was wearing thick leather working gloves (had to soothe them with a cold bottle of beer ;D). It also doesn't flow too well, and produces a noticable "lens effect" around the miniatures and the walls. Dying is apparently only possible with the appropriate Noch stuff; I tried acrylics, which produced little lumps and a lot of foam. So I settled for several layers of hot-melt water, each one covered with a layer of acrylic washes. I used the GW variety, and am fairly pleased with the result.

And a final overall shot:

I'll spend the rest of the night adding ripples, waves and splashing produced by the bathing ladies, and some other last minute addtions. I hope I won't get disqualified for being too diorama-ish. It's still supposed to go on my industrial table, you know ;)
