Another great warmaster battle.  Sorry my old gaming group never got into playing warmaster when we were younger.  I suspect it would have been played far longer than we did WFB with it's rules churn.
Painted:  2025:539; 2024: 410; 2023: 37; 2022: 56

It's a great game and with 3D prints and the free rules it's never been easier to get in to

My first game at this year's Wormaster was against the Norse

For reasons best npt looked at too hard, we were fighting in the desert

Soon Valkyries had descended on my Dark Riders

My forces pushed on to meet the fearsome Northmen

My second game was against a rather familiar opponent - regular opponent in the Soldier Shack Alan with his lovely Nurgle Daemons

Tha armies arrayed for war

My artillery brigade fell, ahem, "foul" of the Plague Daemons

But I had secured the hill, could my Druchi hold out?

And so to game three against "Gerroff! Geoff" and his nasty little goblinses

Once again we'd taken a wrong turn on our way back from slaving and found ourselves in the desert!

Hordes of greeskins swarmed over the distant dunes

Look, there's "faaasends of 'em!"

Those are some nice sculpts - so not too surprised to see they are Forest Dragon ones.

I've read the 'don't worry about the bits the brush can't reach' advice a few times over the years, and not sure I really subscribe to it. There can often be some fairly significant bits that are visible but inaccessible. I am comfortable with knowing which strip is the front one, and which is the back one, and spending less time on the inner faces.

Do you think the Nuln oil helped - in the photos at least, it just seemed to darken things up without adding much contrast, as you already had good contrast from the dry brushing?

Finding speed painting techniques for Warmaster figures is always useful - I tend to go with an all over dry brush of silver/metal  for heavily armoured figures, which does the armour and  pre-shades the other areas too.

Yes as I said on the blog I wouldn't use this technique for all my WM armies and not even for all the units in this army.
The Spirit Hosts are white undercoat and Aethermatic Blue for instance

I did the Zombies in a similar way to the bats though, just started with a dark brown undercoat

No-one notices the unpainted/in shade bits at gaming distance - the only question is if you as the painter can live with the knowledge you haven't done it "properly" :)

Yes in reality the Nuln oil helped - the photos are fairly crude badly lit phone pictures, the Nuln toned down the sharpness of some of the drybrushing and also tied it all together.
But then like all these things it's subjective, add a wash, don't add a wash, paint the ears, don't paint the ears - it's all about what *you* are happy with.

I've got some BoFA Dwarfs based and undercoated black - metal drybrush for them is definitely the way I'm going with those!

So I made a video of me looking at 'em.
