Modern Afghan Civilians... and the like...

I have been researching an Afghan / Taliban force in 28mm and one of things I have not found many of, is suitable civilian models:

But for civilians i only a few by Eureka ( fighting15's ) and maybe a few of the stan johansen ones ( but they do look a little crude )

So, fellow lead adventurers, can anybody else come up with more suitable civilians?
I know there are more Egyptian grave diggers and the like, but they aren't really what Im after....

thoughts?

I think he means unarmed civilians Tomas..I would look through some of the colonial ranges such as the indian mutiny or even further pack e.g. arab armies there may be some amongst those that could be press ganged

i think there are a few perry-figures that could work
The crusades muslim armies
MA 29 Muslim civilians

Some megaminis civilians might work for folks in westernized clothing

and to build on what LTD says, look at artillery crews, they are often unarmed so make for easy conversions

If you know about the Eureka Indian civilians presumably you know about the Eureka mujahadeen, which frankly leave all the others behind in the dust when it comes to the sculpting.

As listed in my original post, as sold in the UK by fighting15's, and I do agree, they are the best sculpts of any of the above listed ranges...

I think the Mongrel ones give them a run for their money. One or 2 of the Shirts dont seem to sit quite right on the Eureka one...a very minor point I might add

I prefer the TAG Afghans, I find the Eureka and Mongrel sculpts too small to paint comfortably although I agree the Eureka ones are lovely for their posing etc.

I am going to try modifying some Britannia Somali civilians to be Afghans. These come in a set of 5- the alive ones in front of the buildings here. The women are usable as is (except one will have a gun removed). The old man needs some trousers adding to his lower legs which even I might manage and the boy will be fine because he's going to be playing football (I'd have preferred shorts but you can't have everything).

Just been on the britannia site and no pix of the said civilians...

I wonder how many more suitable civilian models are out there....
But I guess we have to bow to the knowledge of our esteemed mod...

And that afterall, is one of THE great things about this forum.

A quick update.

I have two sets of Somalis to convert which I hope to cover on my site once they're done. The old man will need a beard as well as trousers but I may manage the trousers with just paint so be left to sculpt a beard (I'm very, very bad at sculpting) A head swap with an existing Afghan may be the better choice. I may try both to see.

The main point of this is that I've ordered some civilians from Stan Johansen, they're Iraqis but...
Details and comparison shots when I get them.

Stan Johansen miniatures arrived today, fast service across the Atlantic.
On first perusal they are fairly crudely sculpted but are a good size, I was expecting little chaps to be honest but they're not.
