Frostgrave/ Dragon Rampant mash-up
« on: 05 January 2016, 06:02:49 PM »
When Dragon Rampant came out from Osprey Games, I thought 'wouldn't it be great to use the Frostgrave plastic figures in this?'

I mentioned it to the author Dan Mersey, and he emailed back three Frostgrave inspired Dragon Rampant armies.

Our Kev tarted them up with some pictures and put them on his magazine site. Have a look:

I've not tried any out yet, but it just seems a great way to keep using that collection you're building up.

That's cool! Not sure I will be playing Dragon Rampant, but if I will, I will have the models ready, haha.

I am slightly puzzled that anyone would think of this as a mashup - surely it is normal to use the figures you have with any ruleset.  Figures aren't ruleset specific...?

Or am I just out of touch...

Well the Frostgrave plastics are specifically designed for the Frostgrave game - ie. wrapped up in warm skins and furs and kitted out like adventurers and treasure hunters, rather than soldiers. The Frostgrave game itself requires you to collect a small band of different characters, rather than a large army comprising units.

I would guess the crossover list shows you how to categorise your Frostgrave followers and the various options they have into a Dragon Rampant force.

Mike.

I'm just being silly calling it a mash-up. Did I need to put a  ;) or  :D?

I like the Idea. If you buy plenty of Frostgrave Cultists, you can build serious army of cultists. You can add a Wizard and Apprentice to be their leader. Sounds fun. Actually, I plan to do it the other way around and pick the best from my Anglo-Saxon army to accompany a wizard to Frostgrave.
