Great work on the Goliaths! :-* I've never been a fan of the models, but you've changed my mind on them.

The painting is just perfect on that sentinel and pilot! :o Can I ask how you did the face? The skin tone is great!

Goliaths are my least favorite gang. That's why I did them first :) I changed my own mind too!

My generic skin recipe is:

1. Base coat GW 'Cadian Fleshtone'
2. Wash with GW 'Reikland Fleshshade'
3. I often paint eyes at this point, easy to clean up mistakes on the next step.
4. Layer up a bit leaving dark tones in crevices etc. with 'Cadian Fleshtone'
5. Start highlighting by adding a small amount of Vallejo Model Color 'Basic Skintone' to the 'Cadian Fleshtone'
6. Add more 'Basic Skintone' and continue highlighting until you get to the contrast you want (I usually stop around here, I don't often use the range of tonal gradation many painters go for)
7. Add a little red to the fleshtones and thinly paint over the lower lip, very thin.
8. I think I added a little red around the nose/cheeks too- it's cold out there ;)

Yes very nice, Now paint a Wampa for him to shoot!
I do want to see some monsters for him to hunt though :)

I've been thinking about that- I need to make some more hangers-on and some creatures for sure.

I seem to have missed the last few updates on this post, so it was a happy surprise rediscovering it.  As ever, some cracking painting going on.  Is the mech pilot a conversion of the objective Aquilla Shuttle pilot figure from one of the 40K starter sets from way back?

Thanks, yes- that's the pilot from the Macragge set. He was pretty bulky and bundled up and seemed a good starting point. In the following pic I'd already replaced the pistol and case of vials he was originally holding.

Hmm
Not too keen on thet lasgun though. Strangely unbalances the model.

But it look much better with paint though. You are kinda magician here :o

It is pretty big, true. I probably could have used a regular lasgun and modified the barrel. Maybe for the next group :)

Thanks all, appreciated!

Well, I had three full days and two half-days off in the last two weeks due to inclement weather, which I put to good use. I may have painted half of last years entire output within the first month of this year!

So, here's my Blackstone Fortress set completed. I based them all at once, which I have to say was not fun at all...

I stole the gold colored scheme for the Spindle Drones from Agis- hope you don't mind :)

Phew!!!

I can only agree to the previous postings, top notch job.

I like them all, but the Colours of Pious Vorne and the Man of Steel are REALLY great!
(Actually, I like them more than the ones I chose…)
cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - https://www.adpublishing.de
