Ok, so the most labour intensive task is complete -the rendering, its not my favourite part of the build!, It has taken me 7 hours to get it finished. There's no point in rushing it, so I just zoned out and imagined the games we're gonna have with it.

Take one large tub of filler and a palette knife. Add lots of water until you have a runny mix. It needs to spread easily, and therefore lots of moisture in it.

Here you can see the filler being added to the walls. I use a really thin layer, continually using the palette knife to even out the surface, being careful around doors and windows.

The secret is to keep adding droplets of water from the palette knife onto the wall to continually smooth the render.

Trying to show you how runny the mix needs to be:

And here around the wall:

Now it's starting to take shape. The next stage will see it really come to life. I will wait until the filler is thoroughly set, probably 48 hours. Along the tops of the walls I add a really runny amount. As this is quite deep it takes time to dry.
Then I take sandpaper and sand all the roughness out of the render, along the walls, edges, tops of walls etc to get a really smooth finish.
Here it is drying out. Note the tops of the walls will be a lot smoother once the render is sanded.

No sanding next, followed by base texture/sand and stone mix then onto painting and final woodwork additions. Still lots to do, but well on schedule for BLAM in October.
