AzSteven, thank you for the info, very interesting to see another artists impression of the Tuscon Presidio. :)
Mine is very much an interetation, but looks reasonably recognisable as  to it's original design.

What a wonderful build!  :-*

Now, what about those lift-off roofs to allow minis inside too?  o_o  ;)

Not happening!  lol

I hate to see a gap between the roof and the building as there is never a tight enough fit  ;) lol

I understand that well, that can be truly annoying!  lol

But for gameplay, you plan on using interior floor plans just in case?

Usually in our games the bloodbath usually occurs outside so there is no need for interiors!  lol

Yes if the need arises I would use a floor plan, However most of our games involve groups or squads of figures. We don't play much 1-1 skirmishes (Zorro being the only exception) so I can't thinhk of many instances where the exact location of the figure is necessary.

I too do not like lift off roofs, not only is there a 'gap' , but also two other reasons:-
1) Most wargaming buildings are under-scale, you should have 1" inside for every cm outside, something only Dr Who
    would be able to achieve;
2) Floor plans let you change the interior easily. One long room (last game) can quickly become 3 small rooms (this game).

Looking Fab Malamute!  8) 8) 8)

Good point has.been, I hadn't thought of that aspect.

I really like buildings with interiors as it provides more gameplay options, but I just think personally the compromises required to do it makes it impractical. Your suggestion may prove another route.

I certainly agree that interiors get cramped when minis are inside with their bases, those little lead and plastic figures have gigantic personal space issues, they wouldn't do well on the subway that's for sure. Which impacts the design.

It often leads to less furniture/scatter inside buildings for gaming reasons, which means it looks a little boring without lots of interesting clutter compared to the outside. It's also very hard to paint inside a building neatly, so it looks a little sloppy compared to the outside OR it radically increases build time requiring you to paint inside as you construct the piece. I don't know about you guys but that kills my mojo and ensures the piece wont make it past WIP. Finally, if your an amazing artist with intersteller tenacity to finish a project without getting too tied down with the details of a scratchbuild project your'e left with the issues of lift-out roofs/walls and cracks in your beautiful piece.

Been busy the last couple of days, the sanding down of the walls, the groundwork and painting will have to wait until next weekend. ;)
