Cheap Toy Spaceships from Amazon
« on: 24 December 2017, 05:07:00 PM »
I got a bag of 72 of these very cheap soft plastic spaceships from Amazon, and after painting them I was very pleasantly surprised. You can see my full review here with more pictures: http://saxondogwarband.blogspot.com/2017/12/toy-spaceships-for-gaming-table.html?m=1

Only some of them.  The SD lookalikes are of dubious legality.

Ah yes, the little rubbery ones!  I love those!
I have 288 of them, and it cost close to nothing!  I got mine from USToy, not Amazon, and in bags of 144.  Still, same ships.
I too noted that they paint well but I actually left them silver or blue for use in massive battles.

You did a really nice job on them!

Very nice work.

I bought a bag of those at the same time as I purchased the slighty-harder-plastic-mostly-SD-clones pack which I see you have as well.

They didn't react well to spray paint so I put them asside but you made them look great.  IIRC, they were kind of bendy. Have you had any problems with flexing and paint coming off?

Thanks for the compliments.  :D I have had no problems with the paint sticking at all. I washed all of the ships with isopropyl alcohol, then primed them with Liquitex gesso. The gesso flexes and stays on both types of ships extraordinarily well. I have been gaming with them without even sealing them and have had no paint loss whatsoever.
