For those of you who were interested in the Fireforge Spanish Infantry review I posted recently, I've had the chance to assemble a few more of Maeldun's comrades:



The legs and torsos in this kit are great, and actually a few of the heads are really good too. I had to repose the arms with hot water, but I would note that they've improved a lot on the chain mail in this kit over previous Fireforge iterations.

I still don't know if I'd buy another 12 at £24, but were Fireforge to consider dropping the price it could have its uses.

Haven't managed to dig out the Perry bits to compare on Fireforge Spanish bodies. Will do that soon.

I HAVE managed to start a retouch (remaster?) of my Black Order mounted knights. With a few stylistic changes in the past 12 months, I felt like they're no longer as good as they could be. So here goes. Step one: rip off all the hand-sculpted furs and replace with texture plate fur. So far so good I think, the texture plate stuff flows much better and has more natural volume. I've undercoated a couple of the furs in this pic but most of them are still drying.

Great painting jobs mate, it’s a pleasure to my eyes ! What bases are you using ? Usually it seems 25mm square 3mm ones but sometimes they appears more 20mm. Never tried the official oathmark ones ?

That's right, they're a mix as they are/were originally based for Vanguard and Kings of War. Infantry on 20mm, heavy infantry on 25mm, cav on 25x50mm.

Seriously though, they look fantastic. Do you have a set of rules in mind to use them with? I expect you’ll be able to find lots of figures that will fit your setting.

Great job on the little guys. 10mm is a great scale. I fell in love with it about15 years ago and have collected and painted up a few armies. It's a very adaptable scale as well. I've played both Warmaster and Dragon Rampant and expect they would work for KoW and Oathmark as well.
