Units can be activared in any order, when using Comman (x), and the charater can gain the special abilities of the unit it leads, but not in reverse (except activation, because here applies always the lowest). But You can choose to use the stats of the character in combat (instead of the units), as it would fight alone (so no rank bonuses).
All of above is true, if I interpreted the rules right  :).

Thanks for the comments guys!

A rematch with the treacherous dwarves of Zygrad's Slavers took place last week:

In sum: Dwarven heavy catapults HURT. It was a game of two halves - turns 1-3 the dwarves just shredded the humans with two archer blobs and double heavy catapults. The human warrior blob died by the end of turn 2 without having killed anything, and a silly move by me left one of the human light catapults exposed. When the human heavy cavalry got into the flanks, it was a different story - but right up until turn 8 the dwarves were shooting things off the table, so it was very close in the end, but the Black Order took the victory. Best kind of game!

And if that isn't your thing, I've finished off a few more warriors for a second block of Chapterhouse Guard:

" ... the seventh wave of Thrall stumbled and climbed over the slippery, piled dead and Mazzarin saw The Watcher with them and at last knew the number of his days."

New additions looking good.

That style of Dwarf force is hard as nails. I'll probably have to face something similar today.

We're starting a campaign soon and I'm pretty keen to see how the dwarves do. Our group is mostly ex-KoW players, but the dwarf player seems to have picked up OM quite a bit faster than he did KoW and is doing really well. Dwarves seem to favour a pretty shooty, turtle-y style - I'm not looking forward to when he adds heavy cav to that mix!

A costly victory for the forces of the Black Order.

Yep - think I had less than 10 models left on the table by the game's end.

So, haven't finished any Black Order units in a while. But I did complete an old dream of mine...

Since it came out (2015) a videogame called For Honor was a great inspiration to my wargaming hobby. Although the game's since evolved to be much sillier, flashier and less serious, when For Honor first came out it was a low-fantasy, very grimdark medieval brawler with an incredible visual aesthetic and amazing audio. One of the central characters in the game - the Warden - has a pretty recognisable set of armour, which I wanted to bring into the 28mm sphere ever since I first saw it. Here's a few pictures from the game, and the Warden himself:

And finally, thanks to the wonders of 3D printing, I've upgraded the Black Order's leader a little with a 3D printed Warden helm. It's a small change, but now the mini lives up to what I originally envisaged:
