I've been doing quite a bit of terrain and other scratch building things recently. While I've been doing that I've managed to splash a bit of paint around here and there and got a few more figures finished. Most of them are from a Manic Terrain Crate that I picked up last week. Good terrain and a bunch of figures that vary from really nice to somewhat underwhelming.

As usual there's more details and pics on my blog at: https://this28mmlife.blogspot.com/2021/01/the-good-bad-and-furniture.html

Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

So good.

Thank you all, for all of your kind replies. I've really been enjoying getting back into fantasy games and seeing all the interesting figures, creatures and monsters that I've missed out on for the past bunch of years.

I've had a pretty productive weekend and managed to get a few more things painted after a visit to a (not really local) games shop. It's nice to grab a few figures that really make you want to paint them so you can see the finished result.

As usual, there are more pics and some writing on my blog at: https://this28mmlife.blogspot.com/2021/01/a-quick-post-stuff-ive-painted.html

Some more things. A nice looking lich. A couple of nice orcs, and a bloody horrible roper (awful figure).

I posted on another thread but I'll post them here too because this is the main thread for all my fantasy stuff.

Some Snakemen from Northstar. Let's say: They're not my favorite figures.

My son has these snakmen. I must say, that I like them, especially the heads are looking good. But...
- The wide stand is a pain, if you want to use them on 25mm bases (for example for Oathmark), because they are ment to be used on 32mm.
- The mould lines are much worse, then on the other Northstar sets.
- The unusual half-ball joints at the arms are a hell to assamble.
So after they are assembled, I like them, while I was assembling them, I hated them.  :)

I agree on all points BZ. I didn't mind assembling them, in fact I quite enjoyed it, but I really did not enjoy painting them. Not at all. Having said that, after painting the figures do look nice even though there's still something not quite right about them and I can't put my finger on it.
(I have a few more on the table now waiting to be finished).

The Snakemen were a huge miss for me, along with the Gnolls on some parts.  After watching a lot of reviews and seeing lots of sprue pictures, etc...I just think they weren't on par with the other Frostgrave kits.  I appreciate anyone who does a good job on them though.

I'm going to need a Darkseed plant  (I think that's what it's called) for the Rangers of Shadowdeep sometime in the campaign I'm playing. I had this sitting on my desk. It's from Reaper Bones and looks the part. The tentacles/roots are just greenstuff rolled and twisted. They came out okay.

I made a fountain too for the next scenario.

Nicely done! I like the tentacles - simple and effective - and will very probably borrow the idea in due course...
