1970's Selous scouts

Not my work guys, these have been painted by Antti Heiskannen.

One selous mini has been painted as a newbie.....pale legs!

A future 1/72 scale release from martello International.......(along with some AK47 selous & RLI too)!

Nice work on the camo. I'm not a fan of the style used on the flesh though. Looks more like wood grain.

Not my work Aaron, but whatever style of painting we like, we can see the detail on the minis and wether they look like the men involved in the conflict eh?

Absolutely. It is only the style I am not keen on. It is flawlessly executed and the figures themselves look great.

None of these ridiculous 3/4 length pantaloons young chaps tool about in these days.

I like the figures very much. Can't help but agree the ultra-stripey painting style is a bit much.
But each to their own I guess

I have it on good authority that you still wear them, especially your favourite Bjorn Borg tight tennis shorts.

Actually, like most of the martello stuff I've seen to date the figure's posing looks rather wooden to me not just the paintjob. Horses for courses of course.

I thought they reminded me of Necrons or skeletons....but the rest is very nice.

Also I've never seen leg muscles like that. Watch the Tour de France and you'll see some good muscle definition.

At first I found the minis too spindly but the more I look at them I realize I like them. The Selous Scouts probably were very fit and lean after living in the brush for so long.

The training was very tough and the guys had to live of the land when out on patrol...bush meat mainly.....(something to do with their 'cack' smelling the same as the guerillas so they couldn't be tracked by the enemy)....?

Seen many photo's and the guys didn't carry alot of excess weight!

I wish these guys were available in 28mm 

I thought about converting some african WW2 minis into them but the shorts all look wrong, they are just too long. I have made some enquiries about whether some of the modern african ranges might do some but it does not seem to be on the cards unfortunatly.

Oh well, better add them to my list of wants and keep an eye out.
