Greyscale Samurai

I plan on doing a small skirmish based on the Seven Samurai, here’s my test figure to see how it may all look in greyscale. I’m hoping to do a 3x3 gaming area all painted in greyscale.

Who makes this figure? I don't think I've ever seen it.

Great result! Grey scale is something I have tried a few times but struggled with. Any tips (in addition to "keep practicing") or tutorial?

Very nicely done. Not seen this tried on Samurai before, which feels like an even harder subject matter to attempt this on.

I suppose when doing this you need to think like black and white photography, which is all about creating contrasts. Whereas greyscale when used on computer images often ends up with lots of mid tones

LAF member "Evilcartoonist" did a 1930's pulp gangster project done in B&W tones. It was done VERY well.

Thanks all  :) I used a white undercoat then went from dark to light with each shade of grey using washes. The only colours I used were black, white and black grey for the cloak.

I am always left in awe when I see someone do the B&W paint scheme.  Stunning.
