28mm Napoleonic Peninsular Civilians?
« on: 16 March 2021, 12:04:04 AM »
This has probably been asked before, but my Search-Fu is weak: who makes some nice 28mm civilians for Napoleonic Peninsular games, of both the male and female variety? My "Chosen Men" list allows a Spy and I was thinking...

Thank you for any and all help.

In addition to the Perry Carlist Wars range Front Rank have a range of more generic, non-Iberian civvies for the period that may work. There are also some civilian vignettes in Eureka’s ranges that might work, particularly those in the French Revolution mob set.

you might take a swing through Irregular Miniatures website. They have some civilian scattered throughout their ranges. Specifically look for the workers, and the camp followers in the Personality range.  Maybe a couple of others in the Miscellaneous and Religious Rabble lines. They seem to be fairly period generic and might work depending on what you're looking for.

Brigade Games has a few Spanish guerillas, including a familiar-looking female guerilla leader:

You may find some useful figures in the Vendee & Parisian Mob ranges produced by Emperor Toads Emporium. They are cracking figures, on the slight side, but come cleanly cast & paint up well.

The best are Perry's Carlist Wars, with Brigade Games a close second (but only if you want them as guerrillas, in which case I would go also for Perry's, in this case their new Spanish Napoleonic range, SPA18-20, 22 and 23, with some Carlist civilian for variety could be perfect to represent those guerrilla bands that evolved into more formal units from 1810 onwards) . Vendee and Parisian mob are not even close to civilian dress in Spain at the time, and Front Rank, nice as they are, are not good either as Spaniards: too English looking! :D

I use Perry Carlist and AWI civilians along with some foundry and Black Cat Bases pirates.

I use the Governor’s Daughter figure by Black Scorpion as a female spy
