More lovely additions, I especially like the Indunas, very characterful as Monsieur Plynkes says. ;D

Thanks very much Nick.

Cheers,
Helen
Best wishes,
Helen

I've slowly been painting up additional miniatures for the project. I'm working at glacial speed at the moment due to health and tending to the outdoor paddocks.

So... I did some modelling to provide flexibility to the miniatures where needed for my project. The only miniature shown below not modelled on was Cpl Schiess NNC. Acting Assistant Commissary Dalton and the former named nco will be used as a European NNC command stand. I will look to make a number of these stands so they can be grouped together in the last part of the iSandlwana battle.

The Army Hospital Corps (AHC) started off as an artillerymen from the British intervention Forces with a plastic kepi and liquid putty for the cover added. Additional buttons and insignia added where necessary. A number of miniatures have been worked on for the AHC which will be wearing helmets. These together will form a number of vignettes over time.

Private Hitch the wounded miniature has had his left arm removed and plastic arm inserted. A head swap in addition will makes this miniature a little different as Rorke's Drift will not be on the agenda.

Acting Assistant Commissary Dalton has had his bayonet removed, pistol holster added and liquid putty for the leather strap. Liquid putty also for his mouth area.

Thank you for looking.

Great to see more new stuff, Helen. Don't stop any time soon.

I'm curious about whether you have a particular game system in mind, or if it is more of a modelling project for the time being. Sorry if you already told us, if you did I must have forgotten. I notice we have units in stands and quite a few singly-based guys too.

Thank you all for your kind words and support.

@Dylan, I do have a gaming system that I borrowed off the net for free and adapted for solo gaming. Moreover, I'm using David Bickley's rules for basing and gaming if necessary as a back-up for friendly games. iSandlwana and Inyezane are the only two battles I'm interested in. For the former, it will be from Col Durnford's area of operations and the latter the initial contact and subsequent battle. I will have only one unit of red coats for the former. These will be made up of the clerks, cooks, engineers and who ever else Captain Pullen, QM managed to round up in the closing moments. Difficult to know, but we can just represent them as a firing line. This will be about six bases of four redcoats per base. The Battle of Inyezane will have marching British redcoats poses with some modelling where required. I've started modelling some of the mounted volunteers for the latter. I'll add a stand of Durban Mounted Volunteers for their uniform even though they were not there for the initial battle, but later in the siege of Eshowe.

The basing system in some part represents no ratio of numbers. Vignettes are for portraying certain moments which may include some on singles bases placed amongst the tent lines, wagons etc.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Helen. Just being nosy, it's nice to get a bit of an idea what you are striving towards.

A European Wagon Driver preparing to defend himself from the attacking Zulus. One of the "Overs" has killed the unfortunate private and so the wagon driver has picked-up his weapon. I've used Chaplain Smith for the conversion. Plastic left hand from the Perry plastics. Head swap on the British private.

Thanks for looking.

Edit:
Further to my painting of this civilian. I had at the time been thinking of Louis Dubois from certain passages of books I was reading when painting this miniature. I found out after asking the question on Ian Knight's Facebook group if DuBois had survived the Battle of iSandlwana that there were two Dubois brothers and it was Louis that was killed on the Natal side of the bank. Robert being the other brother.
My thanks to various members of the group for sharing their information on Conductor Dubois.
