Very nice.  I like the idea of the the small indentations in the stone work.  They'yy come up really well when you paint it.  :-* :-* :-*

Hi everyone!

It's been a while since I posted, and I have very little to show for it  lol

After a short hiatus, I finally (almost) finished the larger hotel building. I still need to add some signage, grime by the wall anchors/drainage pipe, and a door - but we're almost there. The windows are made from painted 'granny mesh' used for crocheting. Took a few goes, as my paint didn't stick, but after priming and matt varnishing I was able to add a brown drybrush. The roof was made from 1*1 cm plasticard squares, painted to look like red terracotta tiles.

On the short side, I wanted to add some exposed brick. Unsure whether it looks particularly convincing, but I enjoyed experimenting. I first rolled a patterned greenstuff roller over some foam core, deepened the pattern using a ballpoint pen, and then drybrushed the bricks in red. I'm hoping that a bit more grime on the rest of the building will tie it in a bit more, but I'm happy with the result nonetheless.

Finally, here's a picture of the latest builds. Please excuse the location - for some reason I could only get good lighting on the mantlepiece...

As always, any feedback or ideas are always welcome!

Lovely  :)

Are you thinking of making a pavement plate for it (and the rest of the builds)?

I’m really not sure! I’ve been thinking a lot about it lately, but I really don’t know what option to go with. I think I’d like to add a base plate to all the builds, both for aesthetic and durability reasons.

On one hand, a pavement look would make sense, but I feel like it would take away from the modularity of the seperate builds, as the pavement (and the width from the pavement edge to the build) would need to line up if the builds were to be placed next to each other.

Alternatively, I could do a base with a more organic look, with some greenery and dirt (similar to the latest star wars builds you showed off earlier this week), but that may look odd in a city setting…

Any suggestions?

Stunning looking buildings (and figures  :)).
Is it possible to consider two bases - organic and pavement - and drop the building onto either as the game demands?  The join between building and base may not be perfectly disguised but the greater flexibility might be a key advantage.

I think you could get away with the pavement only protruding from the front and maybe have a couple of mm down the sides/rear. If the paving slabs are random enough it won’t really matter if they don’t exactly match up when the builds are placed next to each other.

Phenomenal thread! The figures and buildings are fantastic.

You could put your buildings around a cobblestone square. Lemax makes a great vinyl cobblestone mat for its Christmas Village line. It's easy to cut and dry brush to make smaller squares or roads. Check out the Amazon listing:
