Great AAR.

Five will get you ten that a US Navy Captain will cover his own arse and leave our hero out to dry. Possibly 'promoted' to heading up the motor pool. ;)

I thought he ended up on TMP constantly chiming in about his 'service'*? . Same bloke claimed to have been put in charge of an atomic demolition munition, which may have been true. Perfect candidate to have triggered one. 'You stay there Ralph and when you see the rooskies come over the hill, push that button'. Almost as funny as Phil Silvers but in an entirely different way.  ;)

Great AAR, Jim. I was feeling the Black Hawk Down vibe the whole time. And speaking of which, when you said that the Black Hawk got damaged, I'm thinking, "Here we go..."   :o

Thanks, boys!

Great AAR.

Thanks.  It will be interesting to see how this plays out.  I don't even know yet...  ;)

I've tried to shoot down 6 helicopters in 2 games so far (5 Blackhawks and a Little Bird).  Came close with 3 of them, but they all got away.  But we were more concerned with the Little Bird.  It only had one damage point left, a couple points of shock on the crew, and it was out of ammo.  Had it gone down, the QRF would have had to go in a on a S&R mission, leaving the convoy without top cover...

I purchased 5 Dinky Toys Saracen APCs from good ol' Harry Faversham.  Using dimensions in my sourcebooks, they measure in at approximately 1/60 scale.  You results may vary, but to me, that's close enough.

They came pretty plain Jane, so (encourage by harry) I tarted them up a bit.  I used stowage (and the 2 M1919s on the rear deck ring mounts) from Rubicon's Allied and German plastic stowage sets, and dry-brushed them.  I think they turned out OK.  They will appear, at a minimum, in my Northern Gambola games (which, by the way, one is scheduled for 31 May...).

In any event, here they are:

And yes, I know the spare tires are bolted to the grilles.  The Gambolans do as they see fit, good idea or not... ;)

Other recent vehicular acquisitions include a Saladin armored car (by Corgi, and at 1/56 scale), a Centurion tank (a bit small at about 1/62 scale, but I'll still iikely use it), both from Mr. Faversham.  A I picked up 1/43 cars from a local estate sale (a 1980s Mercedes 280 and a 1980s Ford minivan).  I'll post pics of these one of these days...

Thanks, fellas!  They will certainly do the trick.

Yeah, but they might be a bit too free-thinking.  Leads to various coups, revolutions, uprisings, insurgencies, crackdowns, etc.  Northern Gambola is most certainly a member of the Coup of the Month Club... ;)

Thanks, and thanks again!

As I mentioned, those Saracens should see action this Friday coming.  I plan to post the lead-in and the scenario notes sometime in the next few days...US Rangers and SF types assault a Gambolan rebel base...

They are indeed 1/60, as is the majority of the Dinky Military. The two exceptions in the range are the Daimler Dingo and the Ferret scout cars, which are 1/48 .
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.
