Been thinking on how to do up some "armed civilians" for my modern(ish) stuff.  WW3 partisans-type guys and the like.  Then, I had an epiphany - I grabbed my Wargames Atlantic French resistance box (WAFR), some Warlord Project Z survivor weapons (WPZW) and Special Operator (WPZS) sprues I had, and some spare Warlord GI (1st set) (WGI) and USMC (WMC) sprues, and kit-bashed them.  My first 6 attempts are below (pre-painting, or course).

1st pic below
Left fig - WAFR body and head, WMC arms, and WPZW AK.
Right fig - WAFR Body and head, WGI arms, and WPZW AK.

2nd pic below
Both figs:  WAFR body and head, WGI arms, and WPZW M16.

3rd pic below
Left fig - WAFR body and head, WPZS RPG arm and RPG spare ammo, and WGI left arm.
Right fig - WAFR body, head, and left arm; and WPZW arm with .45.

So far so good, I think.  I plan to do up another 6, with a few more AKs/M16s, an UZI, a shotgun, and a warlord German MG42 (portraying an MG3).  I'll post pics once they're painted up (after I finish my prepped and primed Vietnam War GI squad...).

Any thoughts from anyone?

Oh, and Happy New Year!

Not bad.  :D

Thanks!  I'm pretty happy with them so far.  Only one figure needed a bit of shaving where the arms connect to the body (the guy with the rolled-up sleeves aiming his AK).  Other than that, it was pretty straight-forward.

And yeah - the RPG gunner (and one of the chaps with an AK) apparently is old school - can't go out without dressing for it you know...

I'll do up 6 more figs this afternoon, and post pre-painting pics here later.

Thanks!

Here are 6 more.  I also grabbed a sprue of Warlord German grenadiers (the 1st set) (WGG) for these...

1st pic below
Left fig - WAFR body and head, WGG arms and MG (an MG42 posing as an MG3).
Right fig - WAFR Body and head, WGG left arm, WGI right arm, and WPZW AK.

2nd pic below
Both figs:  WAFR body and head, WGI arms, and WPZW weapons (the guy on the left brought the family bird gun to the fight).

3rd pic below
Both figs:  WAFR body and head, WGI arms, and WPZW weapons.  I added the guy with the M16's cigar by drilling out and gluing in a piece of small pin.

That should be enough for now.  All 12 are prepped, and just need priming (likely Monday).  Painting will happen after I finish those Vietnam GIs (pics of them should appear in my Vietnam thread by the end of the week, hopefully).  Pics to follow on these guys, likely in 2 or 3 weeks.

3rd pic below
Left fig - WAFR body and head, WPZS RPG arm and RPG spare ammo, and WGI left arm.
Right fig - WAFR body, head, and left arm; and WPZW arm with .45.

Thanks!  Painting is scheduled to start either today or Tuesday...taking down Christmas decorations may impact that... ;)

Alrighty then.  I have half of them done up.  Here they are.  1st 3 pics show the leader, a fella with an Uzi, and the guy with his family bird gun.  The next 3 pics show the rather dapper chap with the RPG, and an MG3 team.  The last pic shows the lot all together.

I must say, with absolutely no modesty whatsoever, they seem to have turned out OK!   8)

I should have the other 6 (AKs and M16s) ready for their public debut by the end of this week...
