Great write up Jim! An enjoyable scenario that could be repurposed to quite a few locations. might just steal your ideas at some stage in the future. Thanks for sharing this.

Thanks, fellas!   :D

And now, for something completely different...kinda...

Inspired by dadlamassu's post in aliensurfer's thread on the Post-Apocalyptic board, I had a thought while putting together some cold-weather WW2 Germans (who are ready to begin painting).  I took some WW2 German cold-weather bodies, added some modern weapons, a selection of different heads, and voila!  I came up with these 3 chaps...

Here's how I did it:

The guy on the left "Man on One Knee"  His body and webgear came from a Warlord Waffen SS sprue.  I reckon the StG44 mag pouches make passable AK/AR/Galil/etc. pouches.  His AKM arm came from a Warlord ProjectZ Special Operators sprue (I did remove the optic from his AKM).  His left arm and head came from a Warlord Winter Germans sprue.

The middle guy "Distinguished-looking Fellow"  His body and webgear came from a Warlord Winter Fallschirmjager sprue.  His M4 arm came from a Warlord ProjectZ Special Operators sprue.  His left arm came from a Warlord german Infantry sprue (the original one), and his head came from a Warlord British Airborne sprue.

The guy on the right "Scruffy Dude"  His body and webgear came from a Warlord Winter Germans sprue.  His Galil arm and his left arm came from a Warlord ProjectZ Special Operators sprue.  His head came from a Warlord US Marines sprue.  The cigarette dangling from his mouth came molded on the head, so I gave him a bit of a 5 o'clock shadow on his face.

I think they turned out pretty well.  They will portray some more Balczaki Freedom Front chaps in my modern(ish) games, and could be some more Cold Bloods in my post-apocalyptic games.  Methinks some more of these fellers will be in the works as time goes by...

Those are very cool. I like the turquoise trousers, very bold!

The right hand guy somehow still has a Wehrmacht vibe to him - not quite sure why, perhaps its the webbing?

I like them, obviously unique and very characterful. I can’t see them up to their necks in Balczaki mayhem.

Thank you!  As for the chap on the right, he'll do...but my favorite is the guy with the blue ski pants...

You nailed it.  I did point that out in the figures' descriptions...

Thanks, Doug!  They'll surely get their chance to see the elephant...

Thanks, carlos.

It looks like we're going back to Balczakistan on 28 Feb.  The Soviets will be reacting to the attack on their base...but first, our 2nd monthly game in our Nam '68 Tour of Duty, er, tour of duty.  That is set for this next Friday (21 Feb).

I'll post scenario details of the next Balczakistan game once I figure out what they are... 8)

Thanks!  They did fit together fairly well for the most part.  I had to do just a bit or trimming on a couple arms, though, but no biggie...

Looking at the beret, it occurs to me that you might want a Patty Hurst or Uhlrike Meinhof to round out the gang. From PIRA through to ETA and the RAF along the way there was always a reasonable proportion of female members in most Euro guerilla organisations.
