Coming in late.  I missed this earlier.  Well done with a truly imaginative force, an excellent colour scheme and superb painting.  I really like your selection of conversion parts.

Gorgeous orange theme you worked out!

This army looks to be on the more heroic end of the Sludge spectrum. Thinking of starting a Sludge project for a more villainous force?

Thank you! Not sure about villainous or not, but I might make a small demo force with some of the left-over bits from this project.

Your conversions and painting are hugely inspriational and I find myself looking up the Sludge ruleset.

And I am supposeded to be 'never starting another period that I might not game much in'  :o

Where does the ferocity of Malakal come from you ask, that drive to conquer? The people of Malakal have always been warriors. When the world was young the Horse Masters conquered vast territory, in ages past the City of Stone Towers dominated the savannahs. Now, in the shattered branches of Yggdrasil, the Grand Sultan simply continues tradition.

Finished a decent size update to this project. I've spent the weekend painting the six bases of pikemen shown on the previous page, as well as building and painting six footknights without muskets for when I want some pure melee power. Finally I thought I might want the option of a full sized unit of Jägers, so I built two more of those. Not painted yet, but I'll post a picture anyway.

Pikemen are Perry French Elite company and European Mercenaries kitbashed, only the flag is greenstuff. The knights are WotR men at arms, some of them have arms from the European mercenary command sprue, and their heads are Perry zulus. Backpacks left over from the austrian landwehr I used for other line infantry.

All together:

Pikes:

Foot knights:

Jägers:

More great additions - good to see you have gone for pikes for the melee Line Infantry, they feel like an obvious choice, even though not listed in the rules.

Thanks fellas! I interpreted the pole weapon entry for Line Infantry as a wide enough category that it would include pikes, as you say they feel like a natural fit. Transportation will be a struggle though :D

Thank you! Nothing new in the pipeline for this project yet as I'm waiting to play my first game. Might start building another faction, but I need to clear some space on the paint table first.

Love the poses and conversions.   This is somewhat reminiscent of the Artesia graphic novels by Mark Smylie.
