Doug, no problem at all have been thinking about that but went with native officers at the moment.

Bit more useful in battle against human armies as human officers would probably refuse to fight against fellow humans.

Think reminiscent of Europeans leading sepoys but then refusing to lead them in battle against fellow Europeans.

Also want to represent my natives as fully independent nations in most cases but that said might add some human officers later on.

That's a glaring hole in my knowledge! More than a bit embarrassed by not coming across in my less than exhaustive readings.

Ah, my prejudices to the fore, though I HAVE seen counter examples, I would expect local forces to have local, or old, worn out, imported, kit.

Now I can't get the image of lizard folk with bamboo artillery out of my head...
