Intelligence has decided this suit is of Lexus manufacture. The fact it had its armour destroyed (TWICE), its engine knocked out and absorbed countless other hits during this engagement discounts any possibility of it being a Datsun.

In the bottom left hand corner of this picture you will note Colonel Horatio Stayhard !!VC!! hiding behind bushes. This is where he remained throughout a large part of the battle until goaded by a brave Prussian officer.

In the picture below we see Oberlointment Von Pap about to stick his fingers into the spokes of Stayhards Penny Farthing (note the wreck of the Kashima burning in the background, sorry Jimbib  ;)):

The reason he was forced to hide behind the bushes was as a result of  ungentlemanly conduct from the Prussians. He was fired upon by their MG team... ::)

True, true. But it was funny.

Looks like a great game. Your cotton wool effects are most impressive indeed.

I must, however, protest. This may well be Victorian Science Fiction, but you can't honestly expect us to believe that the home service helmet would be worn in China, can you? There are limits, after all...

I am afraid to say that during the Anglo/Japanese war of 1883-1884 there  is much documented evidence to support the suggestion of British troops wearing the traditional blue home service helmet in battle particularly in skirmishes that took place in and around Chilli province in the autumn/winter of 1883.
Colonel Horatio Stayhard VC was well known for going into battle in his best dress uniform complete with fringed epaulettes which had not been regulations for many years ;)

Poor Japanese getting beat up by the big imperial boys.
Shouldn’t get involve in affairs (  ) of state.
I am extremely jealous, looks like a really good game.
Some lovely figures and terrain
Any chance of a close up of the Japanese infantry?
Have you painted these in the last few weeks, along with every thing else you have been doing and showing us on the forum?
What have you used for the clanks?
Have you got some close up pictures of them as well?
Have you done these recently as well?
If so, I think you must have a couple of clones to produce this much quality stuff.

What rules did you use?
Great report, thanks

It was a cracking game  :)

The rules used were G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T. (with a few quick improvisations  :D )

I'm off to the Orient myself tomorrow so probably no photos of stuff till I get back (I'll give it a go though).

The suits are from Eureka and one of them has had VSF samurai armour added (didn't do 'im much bloody good though  ::) )

Everything's been pretty much done over the past few weeks and I don't have a clone, just a very understanding wife (or maybe it's the fact she pities me somewhat  lol )

I think that with the close proximity of Mr M and myself, a few more games will make an appearence in the near future... Huzzah!!  :D

cheers

James

He's right you know, with these recent hostilities, I expect to see a full scale war developing in the not too distant future...

It is also well documented that Stayhard VC will sometimes disguise himself as a bush in the heat of battle.

Lovely pics of a great looking game, Im hoping to get my Japanese finished next week , I was also particularly interested in the Garibenkun , as i have been wondering what to use , I hadnt thought of adding a few bits to the eureka suits. Im probably going to see if I can make the 40mm samurai from Steve Barber work with a suitable paint job.

Great Scott - but that's a splendid looking game (and I speak as a VSF-phobic)

That Nip flying ship thingy is a total triumph. Well, as a model anyway...

Jolly good show and a great photo report. Well done chaps. See you in a few weeks  ;)
