Finally after over 2 years…..
Campaign turn 3
The crew, or rather Parfit, receives intel on an abandoned food processing plant in the industrial wasteland on the outskirts of Logan's World’s second largest sprawl; Crawford’s Folly, more commonly known as The Folly to Loganites and frequent visitors.
The information detailed that the site had been run by Fodderco, a subsidiary of a subsidiary that was indirectly controlled by the Corporate Union, and was abandoned 5 cycles ago after some kind of accident led to the area becoming contaminated.
Toxicity levels are now thought to have fallen to within reasonably safe levels, and it is believed that due to the scare associated with the accident, the area has remained relatively intact. It is therefore possible that there may remain some kind of evidence of what was going on at the plant that caused the accident and subsequent contamination. Evidence that might be used indirectly by SOYCO to give the Corporate Union a black eye and cause further Unity scrutiny, or at the least a dip in their market value.
Unfortunately, as the crew descends from the Mary Sue and begins to work their way into the facility, it becomes apparent they are not alone. A crew of K’Erin outlaws have followed them to the site.
So the mission was ‘acquire’, in this case files on a still functional terminal in the centre of the board. The notable sight was a ‘priority target’, so we can surmise that one on the K’Erin had a bounty on their head.
It can also be assumed that these K’Erin were in some way connected to the Unique individual who accompanied the punks in the crew’s previous encounter. This was a reckoning, the K’Erin were out for some kind of blood debt.
The crew split up, 4 of them staking out the main machine room, and Chester and Jal working the flank to access the control room from the other side of the plant. The plan was for Parfit and the rest of the crew to keep the K’Erin busy while Cester and Wilmorton snook in and retrieved the files.
Didn’t quite work out like that.
In turn one the crew took up positions behind the closed door after the K’Erin had burst through into what seemed to be some kind of machine room. Rossi set up behind a pipeline while Rogan, Parfit and Wilmorton got ready on either side of the door.
Turn two saw Rossi and Parfit fire on the K’Erin they’d recognised from the wanted posters, but they were both ineffective. It was Rogan who took down the priority target with his rattlegun.
In turn three, Parfit acted in the quick phase and took the rash decision to dash forward, firing a burst from her shotgun into the K’Erin specialist, who she hit but failed to take down. Rogan Josh and Wilmorton also fire on the same target but fail to hit.
In the return fire Parfit is hit with the specialist's cling fire pistol and is only saved by the chemical failing to ignite properly, (luck point.) Both Wilmorton and Rogan are felled by return fire from the other K’Erin. Things had suddenly gone south very quickly.
In turn four, Chester makes it to the side door from which he fires on the nearest K’Erin, but misses. Rossi misses again, Parfitt takes her booster pills after have the wind knocked out of her by the the hit she took, (stun marker,) she repositions and manages to take out the specialist before he can fix his cling fire pistol, but Chester goes down in the return fire from the K’Erin
Two of the remaining K’Erin fire on Parfitt, taking her out of the action, then move to cover the doorway from which Chester had emerged.
At this point of the crew, only Rossi and Jal remain standing. Jal moves up to the cover of the doorway and guns one of the K’Erin down. She is immediately hit bt return fire from the other outlaw, which is luckily absorbed by the selected works of ‘Galactic Beat Poet’ Kack Jeroac, which Jal always carries with her, in the breast pocket of her fatigues. (story point)
Turn 7, Jal acts in the quick phase, groovy baby. She fires on the K’Erin leader but misses and is dropped by the return fire. Not so groovy. At this point Rossi finally hits something and drops the K’Erin leader with her hunting rifle.
Turn 8 & 9 the final K’Erin bears down on Rossi, it’s one on one, she fires and misses, the K’Erin also misses, only to be finally taken down in turn .
After battle rolls result in minor injuries for Jal and Rossi, Wilmorton just had a scratch, but Rogan Josh didn’t make it.
My crew are a bunch of amateurs, what a disgrace.
