Thanks for all the encouraging comments.

I’m currently working on a Soldier unit that will act as bodyguards for the Duke. The first model is almost done.

The Flautist is a Frostgrave Sonancer.

Really cracking work with the freehand patterns. Loving it.

Good effort on the tartan, not just the pattern but the muted tones too, it's never easy and you've pulled it off.

Cheers

Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.

After almost a year I’m revisiting this army. I finished painting the soldiers unit and also I had a couple of games… then I had a pause on the hobby (life, work, covid…) and to rekindle my will to paint I decided to sculpt a second giant. As the bigger scale and painting possibilities were a lot of fun. Hopefully this will also motivate me to sculpt a second unit of ogres and paint the three units I’m missing to complete 1500 points (15 archers, 5 cavalry and a heavy catapult).

Hopefully Northstar releases more humans next year… I really want to see some heavy units for the range.

So you can paint and sculpt!

That looks like a great start; can't wait to see where you'll be taking him...
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

That is looking great. Are you planning on painting tartans on the entire army!? Or just a few select characters?

The first giant and the ogres are all full sculpts. My idea is to build a second unit of ogres but cast them before I paint them… but of course a giant got in the way.

About tartans the idea is that the clan’s color so everyone will use it here and there… this is a picture of the soldiers unit where everyone is carrying the colours of the clan :)

Yes, totally agree, that’s a great looking unit. The consistent palette, but with unique patterns gives a really good effect. I like your use of heads from other kits to add variety, too. Excellent work all around!
